“It'll be fine. I'm sure they're just happy to see me back in country.” He didn't say it like he believed it. He sounded like he was trying to convince me that the apocalypse wouldn't be so bad. That there were going to be perks of a hellfire landscape. I looked down at my shoes, trying very hard not to panic or cry. The last thing I needed was to leave the store with streaky mascara and blotchy skin. “Hey, Zoey.” Freddie's voice was light and friendly. I didn't look up. Suddenly, his face filled my vision. He was down on his knees, looking up at me with a playful smile.

Freddie gripped my hand tighter and gave me his puppy dog face, asking for help. I just laughed and pushed him towards her. “Go on, Freddie, give the girl what she wants, you know you want to do a body shot,” I teased, laughing hysterically at his horrified expression, which quickly turned to a smirk. He gripped my h*ps and lifted me onto the counter, stepping between my legs so that our faces were inches apart. “Actually, I do. Lay down for me then, Angel.” He gave me a wicked grin but I knew he was only messing around.

There was a text message notification from Freddie, my friend and Special adviser. I glanced toward the opposite side of the table where he sat. He gestured at me to look at my phone. Making sure July’s attention was still on her unbearable presentation, I glanced down at my phone. Freddie sent me a meme that he’d cleverly created by swapping July's head with that of an evil looking Maleficent. I swallowed a snigger. Glancing at him, I shook my head and grinned. “Do you mind?” July's frigid tone broke me out of my thoughts.

I asked. “No. I’m not letting you go,” Freddie said stubbornly. His words made me snap. I stood up angrily and slammed my hand on the dining table. “What exactly do you think you are? Do you believe you’re so powerful that you can lock people up however you like?” I yelled, unable to control my anger. “You’re not just anybody. You’re my Lessie,” Freddie murmured through his lips. “I’m not your Lessie! I’m Lessie, but not yours! Stop this madness!” I shouted, feeling like my lungs might burst.

I shout at Freddy. "I asked you to come and drink with me!" His eyes are like a beast's eyes, yellow and bright.

That's what the initials S.W stands for.” “Always the smart one. I'll give you that.” Tiffany said, smiling lightly. “Aww…did you guys fight?” You know, couple's fight.” Freya asked. “Come on, Freya.” Tiffany said walking off.

If Freddie thinks he could slip away from me because a baby arrived, he is mistaken. I picked up my phone again, pressing the record button, “Congratulations on the birth of your child, Freddie. Now pick your damn call. We need to talk.” I said, tapping on the send button before leaning back slowly in the chair as a cold smile teased the corner of my lips.
