His face was unreadable, green eyes distant.

“They are doing this. Not you. And you are fighting with everything you have. You don’t have to carry this alone anymore. I’m here. We’re all here.” He blinked, and she saw tears gathering at the edges of his eyes. Her thumbs brushed across his cheekbones. “We fight this together,” she whispered. Lucian leaned forward. Their foreheads touched. Then, slowly, their lips met, a deep, desperate kiss. One that carried pain, fear, love, and the promise of standing strong, no matter what came next. For a moment, in each other’s arms, they found peace. But the storm was still coming. That same day, Izzy burst into the lab, holding a data core in one hand and waving a tablet in the other.
