Saffron never even read the first line of her book, and her hot chocolate was cold the next time she looked at it. She awoke when her book fell to the floor with a bump. Her breathing was fast, and she had been dreaming of Jack, who seemed to have a huge dog, which was running around him as he held her in his arms. Jack's lips were a hairsbreadth away from hers and about to kiss her when the animal barked, and she woke up.

Jack quietly speaks as he holds out his hand to me, I'm not sure when we stopped holding hands but now that I've noticed it I immediately take his hand and enjoy the warm sparks of his touch once more. As we walk through the forest all my fears suddenly resurface. What's gone on with Jack and Luke? What will Jack think about the relationship that I had with Coby? Will he hate me? Will he reject me? Alfie whines out in my head at just the thought of losing our mate but I can't help it, I'm scared! He was this close to fucking things up for me… Too close for comfort. Thankfully, Zadie didn't suspect a thing. She was too angry to analyze Jack’s words. “Easy, bro. He raised his hand in the air and stalled out like Zadie’s room was his, to begin with. He smiled at my mate, “Nice to meet you, Ayden’s woman… I am Jack and I can tell you and I will be buddies–”

Mira didn’t pay much attention to the conversation and could only remember bits and pieces of the conversation. “I will do it for you.” Jack tapped her nose lovingly “Don’t worry… sleep.” “No. I have to help.” Mira pouted. “Alright.” “Jack” “Um” “Tell me about you.” Mira looked at him with interest. She didn’t know anything about him. “There isn’t anything to know.” Jack shrugged. “You have met my aunt and family. They are the only family I have. I work in the bookkeeping section of the Slegh estate although I sometimes participate with the preparation of contracts.”

I want to be brave. The back door opens with a soft creak. Jack steps in, carrying two steaming mugs. The faint scent of chamomile fills the air. He sets one down beside my journal. “You forgot to refill your tea.” I smile weakly. “Thank you.” Jack sits across from me, watching me with eyes that have always seen more than I admit. He looks at the journal, then at my hands. “You are doing the work,” he says, his voice warm. “That is what matters.”

"Of course. I'm just not going to work at the office anymore. If you have any good projects for collaboration, feel free to reach out anytime. Let's make money together." He let out a relieved sigh. Then, he carefully completed my resignation approval. Just as I was about to take my things and leave, the office door creaked open. Gracie excitedly ran in, holding a massive stone carving shaped like a horse. "Matty, why did you leave the team outing so early? Everyone else spent ages in the souvenir shop! Here, I specifically had someone bring this back for you. I heard it can bless your career and bring smooth sailing."

But we should assume Jenny was confined into an asylum while Jack was sentenced to five years imprisonment for conspiracy. I hope you enjoyed reading this book.
