Time flew by. Before I knew it, winter break had arrived. Since it coincided with the anniversary of Grandma's passing, I made a trip back to Jethroville. The dry, cold wind stung my face. I knelt before Grandma's headstone and carefully set down a bouquet of fresh white lilies. My fingertips brushed across the ice-cold stone surface as I said, "Grandma, I earned a full first-class scholarship this semester. You don't have to worry about me. I'm doing really well."

Jackie was stunned for a moment before he asked, “Is that you, Bailey? What brings you here?” The leader of the group was the pub’s head of security, and his moniker was Bailey. Naturally, Jackie recognized him. Bailey’s gaze was dull when he said, “Mr. Zachry gave the order to make you spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair!” Jackie was startled. “How can that be possible, Bailey!? Seething, Eros began to back away from the locker when he slammed into something solid and heard the sound of shattering glass. “Hey! Watch it!” a familiar voice yelped. Eros turned to see her flinch, then scowl at him. “You broke it.” He glanced down at the shards of glass at Jade's feet and saw a thin line of red running down her ankle, the blood vivid against her skin.

I had thought I was being decisive. Now, I look at the empty space on my finger and I understand that nothing is ever clean. "Marcus," I say, my eyes fixed on the dark water of the Seine as we cross the Pont de l'Alma. "The locksmith's ledger. Did Talia pay him in cash?" "No," Marcus says from the front seat. "A wire transfer. The same offshore account." "And the flat on Rue des Saints-Pères?"

Their circle of friendship had begun to crack when Lucas punched Travis at the nightclub, and Edward didn't want to let the same thing happen to Lucas and Jacob. Somehow, Edward felt that things had become more complicated recently.

" As I finished speaking, I heard gasps from the crowd surrounding me. The series of revelations was almost too much for the spectators to process. "So Mr. Smith isn't the person we thought he was. It's understandable how he would treat his wife's family poorly after being betrayed like that, isn't it?" "Oh, poor child. Isn't his son only a year old?"
