Freya’s Pov Dane ran upstairs to put on clothes. I waited in the living room. My heart was beating very fast. Every few seconds, someone from the pack walked by and stared at me with big, curious eyes. The news was going around quick. “Freya!” Evie came running in the front door. She almost fell. Her eyes were huge. “Is it true? You and Dane...” She grabbed my arms. “I saw you holding hands! I saw him almost naked! What is going on?”

Maybe if he had been more than a coward then the outcome will be a bit different. He was going to just remain by her side as a friend and watch out for her. Maybe this wasn’t meant to be. He was happy to see that she was happy and doing okay. After the last class for the day the students were cheering happily and they all left the classroom with their satchels. Evie was seventeen and came from a middle-class family, both of her parents were primary school teachers and very loving and caring. Evie was the second child and the only girl in the family.

I almost fell to the ground again, my legs and arms stiff with fear. As soon as Atticus turns away from me, Evie launches into action. “LET ME GO!” Her eyes are bulging, her cheeks turning purple as her claw-like fingernails try to reach around to get to me. “I’m coming for you!” Evie shrieks at me. Everyone is watching us now. Not just the students, but the teachers who do not bother with trying to get involved. “Sleep with both eyes open, you slut!”

“How could you think I would do something like that to you Maggie? I may be a terrible friend but not that terrible, right?” “What am I supposed to think, Evie? There’s so much I don’t know about you. Like why were you in Ethan’s clothes at the party. Why are you hanging out with someone like them? And don’t you dare deny it, I saw you entering their vehicle the other day.” “It’s complicated, and I don’t think you want to hear about it. I just want you to know how terribly sorry I am for what you were put through. I understand why you want to end our friends and I agree with you.”

A smashing sound resounded through the room as Freya, Evie's assistant's phone, came into contact with the wall, shattering at the great impact. Freya flinched and glared down at her feet, unable to voice her dissatisfaction with the seething Evie, who had thrown the device. "Who the fuck is this 'Just a concerned citizen'?" Evie screamed angrily while flailing her hands in all directions.

“I don’t know. I am not going to worry about that right now. Let me just look at her. Our mate.” I walked over and stood in front of her, smiling like a goon. Eventually, I stand beside her, as I watch the interactions in the room. The boy is handed over to Rayne and calls him Uncle and she tells everyone she has been aiding him with his powers, even though it hurt her. “That’s our brave mate,” Franz remarks. I struggle to follow the conversation as I keep starting at my mate. Eventually, someone tells the room that her name is Evie and she is the boy’s nanny. But more than that, there is another boy, a twin.

“So what’s your name? You never said.” “Oh sorry! I’m Evie.” The girl – Evie – smiled widely as she held out her hand for them to shake. “I’m living with my aunt and uncle in New York whilst my mother is on business in Europe. They’re my closest relatives outside of Canada and my mother didn’t want me missing any of my training. Hey, did you understand what Beatriz was talking about with the Accords? I got so confused.” “Tell me about it. I was nearly falling asleep with the boredom.” Sam said. He grinned at Max and pulled him into a one armed hug. “It’s a good job Max here was taking notes otherwise I’d have no clue what’s going on.”

“I’m Evie.” “Zoe,” I say, shaking her hand. “And this is my brother, Bastion,” I add, pointing to him over my shoulder. She gives him a small wave and blushes as she takes him in. “What course are you on?” I ask her, trying to distract her from Bastion. “Economics and business,” she says. “You?” “Same,” I say, and grin at her again. Evie and I chat as we make our way to comms for lunch, and she joins me at the table with Corrine, Briar, and Talia. She’s sweet, a little shy at first, but once she relaxes she fits in well with the others.

Gavin looks at me when he puts the call on speaker and we all listen to the phone ring twice before Ryan's dad voice drifts through the room. "Gavin." He said stiffly. "What is it that you want?" I tense up. Gavin's jaw locks. "One of your own has stumbled upon my land Storme," his voice is firm and cold, causing shivers to rush down my spine. "A female. Claims to be named Evie and also claims to have been an alphas mate, which I suppose would be your son's mate." The line goes silent for a bit before Ryan's dad lets out a low snort. "Oh that wolf less bitch,"

She swirled her wine arrogantly. “ Um. It's obvious. ” “ Yes. By the way, Where's my partner for today? ” Her question surprised the duo. How were they supposed to know who her partner for prom is? “ Why are you asking us that? How are we supposed to know who your partner is? ” “ Of course you'd know since my partner is none other than Joseph Winfrey. ” “ Joseph? ” Evie turned to face Mira with surprise. Joseph is Mira's partner so how's he Queen Bee's partner too?
