I ask Jake and he shrugs casually. Jake is doing his masters in web designing and networking at Stanford University and has been gone for months because he got a job close to the university and he only returned to be at my wedding. "It's really going great, Taylor." I give him a deep double meaning look before asking, "Is there a girl you want me to meet?" A blush appears on his cheeks and nod. "Her name is Blake, Blake Noble."

A mixture of relief and sorrow flooded through me as I realised that it was over, that Blade had won. The cost was evident in the bloodied and battered form of Blade, his sides heaving as he caught his breath. But he had done it – he had fought for me, for us, and emerged victorious. Kane promised me once that if Jake ever returned he would protect me and stop him from taking me. He had kept that promise.

Aaron barked. Fear reflected in Trevor's eyes, but he didn't back down immediately. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out something shiny. It was a switchblade knife.
