Jake whispered dangerously. “Spouting words is just spouting nonsense," Raja replied emotionlessly. "Count yourself lucky I can’t kill you right now," Raja spat, his voice dripping with disdain. "Now, get lost. You don’t belong here." Jake licked his lips and let out a bitter laugh, looking down at the floor. "I get it." In a flash, his expression changed when he looked at Tales, as if the true Jake had been hiding all along. "See you around, my love," he said with a smirk, blowing a kiss.

He pulled his lips away, and put my hand back down between us. He then lifted his other arm upwards and looked down at his watch. “I know, you would love to stay here all day with your parents Jane. But, you should get ready. School will be starting soon.” He said, the looked back over at me. “We shouldn’t keep you Jane, your mother and I will head home and let you get ready then.” My father said, his hand still holding mom’s. They stood up from the couch. “Home?” I asked. “Your parents, they have their own home here in the pack. It’s just over there.” Nathan said pointing outside the living room window.

“See…she’s f*cking dead. There’s nothing we can do, Sash~” Something beeped and then came the sound of a heartbeat. “We got a pulse…hurry up, get me the…” Without hearing anything else, Jake passed out on the floor, drowning in his memories…drowning in unconsciousness. |-_-| /-_-\ |-_-|

I couldn't bear to see her hurt, to witness her vulnerability in that moment. Without thinking, I grabbed the nearest object, a jar that lay on the nearby table. With all the strength I could muster, I swung it at Jake's head, connecting with a resounding thud. He stumbled backward, his grip on Evelyn released, and he transformed back into his human form.

"Ahhh—" [Consumed high-calorie, delicious food.] [Status Updated: Full.] [Sanity recovering slightly... Current: 100/100 (Max overflow)] [Evaluation: In the apocalypse, a bowl of hot stew is more precious than gold.] Jake drained the last of the broth, feeling a light sweat bead on his forehead. He glanced out at the pitch-black, frozen wasteland. Outside was hell. Inside was heaven. "Day one," Jake murmured, shoving the last bite of lamb into his mouth. His eyes, half-veiled by steam, were dark and sharp. "If I want to keep living like this... this rig's got to get stronger."

He didn't seem to budge however. “He wouldn't get lucky next time” Jake said, portraying an angry expression. “He?” I asked, staring at him intently. “Well, I personally feel like only a man is capable of doing something like this,” Jake said, defending himself. “Sure” I said, forcing a smile across my face. “There is a burger shop down the street. We were able to find burger wraps in the abandoned mansion from there” I said, hatching a plan to get what I want from Jake.

I started walking toward home. Except… I didn’t go home. I went to Brian’s instead. He was waiting for me, looking curious. “You look like hell,” he said after pulling me into a hug. We sat down to talk. Mayoko was in Japan again. He told me about her, his new video game, his dad’s car—but I could tell he was holding back. I knew him that well. “You want to ask me something?” I said. “How’s school? The city? The girls?” he asked, but I knew that wasn’t what he really wanted to know.

“I can help you, Jake. There’s something I can do.” He froze, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. “What do you mean?” I hesitated, choosing my words carefully. “Andrew’s body—it still holds residual energy. I can perform a spell, tap into his memories, and track Jacob that way.” Jake stood abruptly, his presence filling the room. “Absolutely not.” I frowned. “Jake—” “No!” His voice was firm, cutting through the air like a blade. “I won’t let you risk yourself for something so dangerous.”

It’s plain weird. “So, really, Emma knows I’m here and is waiting to lecture me, right? What, were you waiting to run into me and just maneuver me home all along?” I cross my arms over my chest huffily as Jake pulls up the long expanse of driveway to his gorgeous two-story home that practically faces my own.
