POV Noralyn When I wake up my heart is beating wildly inside my chest and I'm all sweaty. There's a strange noise coming from outside, like a repeated pounding and for a moment I think that I'm hallucinating or that it's simply the sound of my beating heart that has been magnified in my panic, until I realize that in fact there's someone knocking at my door.

Then I woke up,Gasping Sweating. Panting like I had run miles. The room was dark. Quiet. Still. But my heart… My heart was racing wildly, recklessly, dangerously. I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to calm the storm inside me. What was happening to me? To be continued *****

He grasps for me, but I shake my head and step back to create distance and clear my head. My hands curl into fists without thinking. It feels like my body is on high alert, every nerve on edge, pulsing with fury. Or maybe fear. I feel like I could shatter something—maybe it’s just my heart shattering. My patience dangles by a thread. Every small movement feels heavy and deliberate, like even the simple act of breathing takes effort. Despite that, I can feel my heart pounding, hard and fast, and every second I stand there without saying anything, it only gets louder, like a drumbeat inside me shouting “run, run, run.”

My heart almost flew out of my chest with it’s erratic beats. “Drive faster!” I screamed at the driver who immediately hits the gas, speeding up.

He concludes and in a matter of seconds slides of the bed and leaves through the door. I rest my hand on my heart that beats like a beast caged within my ribs. What is this fever?

I kept hearing it beat, how my heart pumps my blood trough my veins at a fast lighting speed. I tried to move around my body, to find a more comfortable position, in the hopes that my heartbeat will slow down. She shuddered against him, her legs quaking, and when he finally slowed to look up at her, he saw her hair was a wild tumble, and her face was glowing. I could hear my own heart beating with ominous force, like a kettle drum deep inside a cave. Red-hot threads of panic and dread darted through me. My heart pounded annoyingly in my ears, and it was getting harder to stay still. I looked away for a second to control my heartbeat but it seemed impossible.

It felt like two hearts were racing inside me. One of them beat faster and faster, as though it was about to leap out of my chest.

And then— Thrum. I jolted, pressing a hand to my chest, startled by a sensation I couldn't immediately categorize or understand. My heart hammered against my palm, but this wasn't my heartbeat—the rhythm was wrong somehow, off-pattern from the frantic pulse I'd grown accustomed to during moments of distress. This was something else entirely, foreign yet somehow familiar, as though I was rediscovering a sensation I'd experienced before but had forgotten.
