It was strangely kind of… fluttery “Ugh, it can't be now,” I muttered, supporting my left hand with my stomach while the right hand rubbed over my belly. It kept twisting again and again. This very time, it came somewhat too hard. A heat spread through my lower abdomen, forcing me to straighten up immediately. What in heaven's name could that be? My fingers shook wildly as I placed them on the same spot again. Then, I heard a boom. That was a heartbeat. It was exactly like an echo, and the strange thing was that it was inside me.

My interest was piqued as fear overrode my mind; I couldn't help but storm the doctor with several questions that were wrecking my mind. “What is wrong doctor? Is anything wrong with my baby? Is he in danger? Is he okay?” There were so many questions at go as my heart pounded fast in my heart. “Not at all, ma'am, the pup is in good health,” the doctor explained gently. “Okay, so what's the problem?” Kylian questioned almost immediately. “The pup seemed to have double heartbeats, and from my observations, it seemed to have two hearts in it, which is quite unusual and complicated.” The doctor explained.

I saw it. The heartbeat. Fast and furious and alive. Something cracked inside my chest. Something I'd been holding together since the moment I signed that contract. Tears slid down my temples into my hair. I didn't wipe them away. "The heartbeat is strong," Dr. Hayes said. "Faster than typical for four weeks, but —" She tilted her head. "But there's something else." "What?" Kael's voice was rough. Dr. Hayes zoomed in. The image blurred, then sharpened.

She was probably thinking what kind of a mother was I to not remember my baby's gender. Well, nurse. I would if I knew. "It's a boy?" I asked her again. My blood went rushing to my head when she bobbed her head in a sharp yes. Unless I was experiencing an episode of sudden cardiac arrest, why the bloody hell was my heart beating so loudly? I could feel it all the way up to my throat, thudding against my ribcage. I could even hear it through all the monitoring devices in the room. This is not normal.

She asked him in a small voice. “Take all the time you need. Just remember that my heart only beats for you.” He kissed her forehead.
