99 ramen. ​I kicked the door shut and guided Julian to the bed. ​Calling it a "bed" was generous. It was a sagging twin mattress on a rusted metal frame, pushed into the corner of the ten-by-ten room. Julian collapsed onto it, the springs let out a long, agonizing screech that filled the tiny space. He looked around, his eyes glazed and unfocused, taking in the peeling floral wallpaper, the single hot plate on a warped wooden desk, and the stack of library books holding up the lopsided wardrobe.

After organizing the bed, the determined Ryuu cleaned the exclusive bathroom next. The client had a good standing in the society to rent such a grand room. For attending 11 clients the day they put him on the new list, he only saw expensive rooms which were filled with high quality bedding sets. The furniture was made up of purple heart wood and their designs were very detailed. The white shiplap walls and birch hardwood flooring complimented the vintage finds of the place. Fresh roses in crystal vases. Jasmine in porcelain bowls. Lilies arranged artfully on every surface.

There’s also a dresser, coffee table, and a luxurious en suite towards the back. The sliding walls and doors are covered in thin, white paper. Everything is minimalistic but clearly very expensive. I sure hope Adrian doesn’t ask me to pay the bill, I think with a wry grin. I don’t have a penny to my name.
