The disappointment was clear on her face; the moment Jessica spotted her, she knew that Jordan did not let her in. "He's not going to shut you out forever... don't worry. Give him a couple of days," Jessica told Aubrey, who just nodded in response. "Anyway, you look tired. Get some rest. Trust me, we all need it," Aubrey mumbled as the two of them rested their bodies on Jessica's queen-sized bed. "Sit down, Miss Huxley. I bring terrible news." My hand flies to my chest. I know it can't be good. I do as he instructs and sit. I'm hyperventilating and I know it. This has to be about Jason. He stares at me awkwardly with the suitcase in hand. He then clears his throat. "Your cousin, Jason, was killed in a shoot out at two in the morning." My head starts spinning. Jason. Dead. Killed. I'm too shocked for words. He wasn't answering the phone because he was dead. I feel sick. It can't be. How could he be dead? "Are you sure?" This is the first question that comes to mind.

“This old man kicked some serious ass last night.” “More like they kicked yours,” Jason said, stepping inside. Dahlia chuckled. “What alley cat did you pick a fight with Todd? Just kidding.” “You two don’t appreciate my skills,” Todd grumbled. “How are you feeling, princess?” Jason asked. “Got a bullet in my shoulder. I’ll survive, well, I did die, but my mom shoved me back into this world.” Todd covered his mouth. “Thank you, mom,” he said, looking up. “Wherever you are.”

My tears turn to sobs, and I curl up on my side away from Kaden, away from those probing eyes of his, away from the memories of being abused and raped. Away from Jason's offspring. I feel the presence of the man who was my saviour.. Who had come to mean so much to me in such a stupidly short amount of time, but I just can't differentiate him from his father. "He's gone?" I whisper. "Yes, he died. He was shot when the police rescued you." Kaden replies, full of honesty. He's dead? Jason is dead? Jason Gray will never come back? Am I safe? Hearing the commotion, doctors rushed into the room and pulled our mom away while immediately trying to save Jason. Unfortunately, their help came too late. His body convulsed briefly, then he died. Our mom was placed under even stricter supervision. She spent her days lying silently on the bed, tears flowing endlessly. All the while, I simply floated in the air, watching everything. Watching her descend further into madness and suffering. Watching my dad live in regret and misery inside prison. Watching Jason die from loss of blood. Inside me, there was no ripple of emotion. I only felt tired, so exhausted.

I asked, feeling a mix of relief and sadness. "I wish he was alive, but he died because of a drug overdose," Jason replied solemnly. "Bloddy Addict, I could never forgive him for what he did; he tortured Aria, our child. He beat her and traumatized her so that she lost her voice and was afraid to speak for years," Jason explained, his voice filled with anger and sorrow. "I would have killed him myself if he hadn't died first."

I crossed my arms, “Not only dad but you and big brother also treated me better than Rhea. Isn't it because you said you owed it to my father that you all…” “Your father never died saving Howard from a car accident. He died from a premeditated car accident which was caused by you and Howard in order to kill him, isn't that right?” Jason cut in, his voice cold and my lungs suddenly seized. I coughed so violently that my chest ached but no one moved, they all couldn't hear me. Howard’s face turned ashen, his eyes widened with shock. He opened his mouth, closed it again, then opened it once more, stammering like a man stripped of all composure.

Yvette followed along because Jason was worried someone would target her. In the car, Jason said, “I have something to tell you. Guy is dead.” Kayson was astounded. “He’s dead?” Jason nodded. “Hmm, it’s said that he got in an accident from drunk driving.” ‘He’s murdered to prevent him from divulging secrets, and that is really merciless. However, a man like him deserves to die because there’s no telling how many evil deeds he committed by taking advantage of his position and power.’ Jason said, “On the other hand, we found a few other doctors with unclear backgrounds, and they have all been gotten rid of.”

Wendy's face was battered, swollen, and bloodied. The look she gave me was one of sheer terror, as though she had seen a ghost. Louis, on the other hand, had completely forgotten about her. With tears streaming down his face, he grabbed my shoulders. "Where's Zane? Please, let me see him one last time." I stared at him blankly and replied, "He was cremated." Louis collapsed to his knees. He covered his face helplessly as his shoulders shook with uncontrollable sobs.
