It wasn’t something I could touch or fight or tear apart with my hands.
It was the bond. And it was reacting.
My breath hitched slightly as something unfamiliar surged through me, something dark and burning and completely out of my control.
Something worse.
My fingers dug harder into the ground as the sensation grew stronger, wrapping around my chest, tightening, suffocating. My teeth clenched as I tried to steady myself, but it only made it worse, the feeling spreading, sinking deeper, twisting into something I didn’t want to name.
