The attendance was voiced out. At the other angle of the motel, some fashionable group of girls could be seen inside a big hall room all chit-chatting and dressing up for the day. And in their midst was a rich looking, arrogant girl, Kayla Davis, the daughter of a competent billionaire from San Francisco. She also came along with her classmate for the final high school vacation. Then suddenly her best friend, Carina Lopez, who came from an average family, banged in and walked straight to Kayla who was busy styling her hair in front of the mirror, still having her white fluffy bathrobe on.

David just happened to mention Livia often. "What?!" His friend dropped his spoon, staring. "Seriously? How did you not know each other from the start? Hey, David, if you're gonna lie, at least make it believable." It was a reasonable protest-it did sound strange. But what could they do? David had never met Jenny before. “Oh, hush. It’s fine to find your baby sister cute, Alvin. You don't have to be so grumpy about it.” Baby sister. The word felt like a slap to my face back to reality. Of course, our parents were together and everyone would see us as nothing but step-siblings, making us have to accept that we're family. I gave Jenna a forced smile and snapped out of my daze instantly and shifted closer to the door, putting as much space between us as possible. Viana, however, didn’t seem to care what we were talking about. She was hunched over, her thumbs flying across the screen of her phone. “Jade, can you grab another plate for Quinn?” Jade sighs like it’s a major inconvenience, but retreats into the kitchen nonetheless. I found myself apologizing and Jenna burst into laughter while I took my eyes to the floor. "Who the hell is this intruder?" Darius snapped and my heart tightened in pain. Like I thought, he didn't even recognize me. Was I that unimportant to him, even as a family member to his wife? "This is Betty," Jenna replied and there was silence for a while. I got curious and raised my head a little to see him looking at me, with his lips parting in shock. "Your younger sister?" He questioned and Jenna nodded eagerly. He continued to stare, his eyes widening slightly while I scratched the back of my head nervously, feeling uncomfortable.
