I’ve been besieged by a group of people and this kid even claims that he wants to boycott me from the alcohol industry in Uppercreek!”

“But seriously, do you know where Joey is?” The pint-sized fibbers were putting on quite a show, especially the towering girl, who was looking at me like she was in on the biggest secret of the century. But one of them couldn’t handle the heat of my laser-like glare. Maybe he was just too short to reach the level of deception needed for this game. “He’s with my uncle,” the little squirt spilled the beans, still clinging to my legs like Koala. “Joey was bawling like a baby, so he took him out to the garden to calm down. ‘Are you frozen, Joey? Joey shook his head, though his bottom lip was quivering from cold. Jill drew back a little to stare at him, wondering at his attempt to be brave. She noticed Joey’s gaze, which was directed at his tall, well-built father. Ah. There was the model of testosterone Joey was trying to imitate.
