Jade sat cross-legged on the couch while Shawn sat up straight, both eating a bowl of popcorn and watching TV. The sports channel was on and they were watching a basketball game. They were supporting different teams and Jade's team was in the lead. They both had markers in their hands and for each goal scored by their teams, the other person's face would be drawn on. Shawn's face was almost full of different shapes while Jade's face was barely drawn on.

As Jett nodded his approval, the Beta retreated to his spot by the nearby tree. I could feel the heat of Jett's annoyance now as he stepped closer. Then he began, "I, Alpha Jett of the Night Storm, reject you-" A cold breeze zinged past us, brushing past my ear and stopping him in mid sentence. My eyes were quick to follow the sound only to find a thick, sharp object flying past. It drove into the tree right next to me. What happened next was like a movie. Jett dove for me all of a sudden, shielding me with his large body as another long dart-like object flew our way. I heard his jacket ripped before it landed beside us on the ground.

He flicks the ash of his cigarette before smirking, “Same look I used to see in my mom’s eyes when I was growing up.” A sharp pang hits my chest. But I say nothing.
