Josh remained where he was on the ground, staring up at the stocky man, the ranter. A shuffling off to the side snagged Ezra's attention. He jerked around as a thin man with sloppy dark hair oozed out of the trees. Ezra shook his head. "Great. You brought a friend." Josh turned, glancing over his shoulder. Ezra saw the man's face scrunch up in confusion. "Cody, what the hell are you doing here? I thought you left with the rest of Bane's thugs." Cody gave them a weak shrug, his body seeming too scrawny for his clothes. "I was just out walking and heard the yelling. I came to see if someone was in trouble."

Cody needs to have a rest and doctors are taking good care of him, so I do not need to worry about him. I pull Lily out of the room and ask, “ Lily, I do not understand. They are father and son, right?” Lily nods. “ Although Cody is not willing to admit it, but Kahn is Cody’s father. No one can doubt it.” I frown. “ Then why did the Alpha hurt Cody and his mother so badly? Did they do anything wrong?”

I nodded, turning back to Cody. “Are you good to go inside?” I asked him. The stare comes back, and I take the time to reflect back on the years I’ve known Cody. Cody is a whole new story. If I told anyone about how I met Cody, they’d look at me like I’m on drugs and probably deem me insane. The only people that knows about Cody is my mom, my grandma, Indra and Ludo. I want to think that Ludo knows the whole story, but he was young. Like Cody was young as well. So I kept that shit to myself. Not that it was my story to tell.

So let Joshua be completely unconcerned because it's not part of my plans to trade him for Mark or any other man that exists on the face of this earth. I hugged him as soon as I had already fed my puppy; Joshua was now wearing clean clothes, his social attire: a white dress shirt made of refined cotton, black creased pants, with his jacket hanging on his forearm. I inhaled his scent as I hugged him, keeping my eyes closed to enjoy the moment, his strong hand resting on my waist.

"It's okay Joshua, it won't hurt.... Are you ready?" Thaddeus said then I walked Joshua in front of Thaddeus. "I, Thaddeus Anderson, Alpha of the midnight moon pack, honorably release you, Joshua Ray from the midnight Moon pack." Thaddeus said and Joshua whimpered as he went limp in my arms. I pulled Joshua into my arms and scooped him up. His arms wrapped around me as he buried his face in my neck. His chest rapidly rose and fell as he buried his nose into my scent gland. Trying to calm himself, trying to ground himself to something.

Josh chose Cody personally to be his second in command since the latter had seemed to have proven his loyalty over the years, only to realize too late that he would die in the hands of Cody. Gab’s words about Cody betraying Josh fired up another flame of fury in me. Now, I also felt the additional urge to avenge the death of someone I may not know but had died an awful death! All I see is red! Fiery, bloody, and beyond words could ever describe. My whole being was drowning in an inexplicable rage and fury. And unlike earlier, I do not feel any fear or remorse. Not even in the slightest!

Ajax is as confused about all of this as Carter. "I am not sure. I got an update from our warriors that Joshua went inside an old run-down building closer to the human city. They also informed me that for some reason they couldn't initiate a pack link inside that building. They said they are going inside. After that, two of our warriors lost their lives and I couldn't get in touch with the other one" he informed with worry and confusion. Carter is not understanding what is going on here. So he decided to go and find it out himself.

Louie turned to look at her and sigh. “Benjy can I see you for a second?” Eileen said and walked away. Benjy got up and followed her back to the study room. “Did you get any information on where Cody lived and if he’s seeing another woman?” Eileen asked. “Still haven’t been able to find his residence I’ve sent someone after him but it’s been hard. They have two labs in Golden springs and it’s been a bit hard determining which one he’s stationed at” Benjy replied.
