Gypsy “Oh, God, please no.” My words came out a muttered hiss as the engine that had been running fine for months started to splutter. The whole van lurched forward, jutting me from my seat. I wrapped my hands around the steering wheel and prayed. “Come on, baby, don't do this.” Another cough from the engine, and my eyes closed on their own. This couldn't be happening to me, not in the middle of nowhere. Hell, I hadn't even seen another car pass me in over forty minutes. If my pride and joy decided to break down there and then, I was going to be well and truly stranded.

For now. Her journey home was a bit more lavish than her hike into town. The Lord’s gigantic pickup truck bumped and bustled, and she sat with her old and dusty shoes kicked up on the luxurious navy-cushioned bench across from her. She peered past the silky curtain of the back window once again to check on the petite bag there. Silvers and two spell books, not bad, not bad at all. You know that fluttering feeling your heart gets when someone attractive locks eyes with you? That’s how I feel right now every time I look at that little bag. She thought to herself.

He mindlinked him, and he nodded, sniffing. "What the fuck is going on here?" A familiar voice asked behind them, making Hashmuk let go of Rasmore. The person standing behind them was the person he was crying for, thinking he had left him. It was Kelvin, with a pile of magic books in his hands. He and his friends smelled like they were coming from the sewer.

"Princess, all packed and ready to go?" I heard Daddy call outside my room as I zipped my suitcase shut. "Yeah, I just need to put my boots on." As I put on my snow boots, I thought about things going through my mind. First, I never thought me and my family would be going to see Grandma Birdie at Big Bear for Thanksgiving because she wanted to cook and see us. It's been a while since I've seen Grandma Birdie, she's a wild lady with a heart of a daredevil. She can do anything that seems risky for her age. Not saying she's old-old, but people age, and she isn't getting any younger. Sometimes I would be getting postcards from places where dangerous things can happen, skydiving, ATV at the dunes

I would like to thank all of you who stuck with me through this series of books, and even those of you who have only read this book (or just two of the three). It has taken me a year to work through all three books, but I was determined to do my best to end the series on a sweet note. JANELLE POV (trigger warning) "Jal, milk pweez," a small voice says before I feel something poke my cheek. "Hey, little buddy. Aunt Janelle is sleeping. Why don't I help you get some milk okay," a deeper voice says that makes me smile. "Jal, sleep? But why," Heath's little voice asks as I manage to move my tired body into a sitting position. I must have fallen asleep on the couch next to Colt last night. I look towards the kitchen as I hear the fridge open. I stand up and stretch before joining the hunt for milk.

Dejected, the cousins left. Both immediately fell asleep as soon as they hit their beds. That morning, Rain awoke with a headache. Surprisingly though, he remembered the events of last night. He moaned as there was a loud knock on the door, it felt like canons bursting inside his head. “Who is it?” he yelled, wincing as the effort caused another pain to his head. The door opened and his mom poked her head inside. “Sheesh, that is a very foul smell, no wonder Ami rushed out last night. “ she exclaimed while pinchi

Like we’ve done for years. "So what's with you and Aidan?" Jared asks between mouthfuls of chocolate mint ice cream. "What do you mean?" I reply after taking a long licked from my vanilla soft serve. "Well yesterday he came to ask me about your book. And it was weird because it was the 3rd one in the series. He didn't even know it was yours or your name. He just wanted a background check on it so I told him it was yours. He then Alpha commanded me to tell him everything about you. He said it was a clue. What's going on there?"

For a second, I’m tempted, but then another wave of heat erupts in my chest, and I lose my nerve. “Tell me about the other books,” I say instead. “The other books?” I nod. And as I tuck my knees to my chest and wind my free arm around my knees, breathing through the stuffiness that’s getting more unbearable by the minute, I listen to the most garbled plot summaries I’ve ever heard in my entire life. “Okay. See, there’s this one with a man and his nephew. And they journey to the center of the earth. And there are dinosaurs. And a tornado? Shit—” The brow furrows again. “It might have been a tsunami. Something like that.”
