They held absolute power in their hands and lived in the lap of luxury, yet they could never again touch that warmth they once knew. Remorse would haunt them for the rest of their lives, plunging them into daily cycles of agony and relentless torment. They would never find happiness again. They had lost their love. They had lost Serena. For all the days of their lives, they would never again know a single moment of joy.

"But you're going to lose this time. Nancy's already eight. She has a say about who she wants to live with." Nancy hid behind Vivian, and the way she looked at me was distant and cold. She didn't even hesitate when she said, "I want to live with Mom and Jason." I suddenly thought of the video Jason Reed had sent me the night before. Apparently, they celebrated New Year's Day early and already had dinner together. With how happy they looked, they were like a real family of three. At the table, Nancy had frowned and said, "This is all Dad's fault! He makes us celebrate New Year's Day early every year."

And that's all because there was nothing at all. The book was empty, full of blank pages that a young Liviana had desperately flipped through, searching for something- anything. And it wasn't until the very last page that she found it. "Be the author of your own story." The note read. "And always remember this, Liviana. Life is a rollercoaster and it will have its ups and downs, but you need to enjoy it while it lasts. It's one hell of a ride and you only get to go once, after all. I hope you have a strong stomach."

Carolina. It was written by Sebastian's mother. "When life becomes meaningless....poetry heals."— 5th January, 1994. I put the book back in its place before I moved on to finding the previous book I left unread. "I thought I was never going to find a new reason to live, but it seems like I finally have a reason to keep fighting. A little soul is growing inside of me, I am going to be a mother."— 18th June 1994.
