The Mage's Heart

The Mage's Heart

I asked to distract myself from his body against mine. He made a sound of disgust in the back of his throat. “Do you think it so easy to use magic? You need the right components. I have a dagger, why would I carry components for such a spell?” “For the event that you drop your dagger through the weave of a net?” I suggested, trying to keep my voice bland. In tale, it was always unwise to provoke magic users. “Hmmm.”

A brilliant adult fairy tale! Dark romance, fairies, sirens, mages, dragons, dark elves, mermaids, trolls, imps, spells, and quests. I loved it, an action packed adventure from beginning to end. Folk lore and fae stories truly came alive, I fell in love with the characters and got lost in the story.

The Magyar's Marriage

The Magyar's Marriage

I chanted to myself before something at the back of my mind replied to me. ‘But not if Eddy decided to rescue you, you will succumb in minutes,’ it said before I shook my head as I was calming myself down. I took a deep breath before I was looking at my reflection in the mirror as I was putting my completed attire to greet the prince and the king from their journey to Sweden. “Time to get this show on the road,” I said as I was taking the iPad that was given to me to alert the prince about his schedule and everything else that he needed to know about his day.

Mating Moon - Asara Pack

Mating Moon - Asara Pack

Persuade her to submit to him before the moon. His close friend Magus took a seat next to him. Magus was a rare addition to their pack. A creature half mage-half wolf he was immensely rare. There was purportedly only one other such creature in existence. And he was allegedly the Commander of King Detry’s Mages Guild. “What are you so pensive about?” Magus queried. “Same thing you are, I’ve no doubt.” “I’m far less pensive than I should be.” Magus was trying to hide a self-satisfied smirk and failing.

LIES OF HOPE

LIES OF HOPE

She was Fate. “How did that happen? I mean what caused that to happen?” “A Magi wields Magic, so when they come into contact with the Fate whose very essence is Magic it causes a reaction. It’s like a testament of wills, and whoever’s Magic is greater usually wins.” “Right.” lisa replied still not fully understanding. But she glanced over at Mark. “So you could have done that back on day one and I wouldn’t have had to endure any of this…” “No, I mean, yes I could have, but my Magic is not as great as Jame’s and if I were to have performed that test most likely your Magic would have killed me.”

Elemental Lycan : The Devine Elemental

Elemental Lycan : The Devine Elemental

"And if you don't break this spell in the next three seconds, you’re going to find out exactly what I do to people who threaten my wife and my son." The moment Jax spoke, Magda’s hunched frame didn't tremble; it stiffened with a fanatical, jagged energy. With a hissed curse in that ancient tongue, she didn't turn to face him. Instead, she swung the heavy brass censer like a flail, catching the edge of the stone hearth and upending the glowing, white-hot coals directly onto the rug.

Ravens call

Ravens call

Javaid stayed silently brooding. “Yes my Lord”, then a thought struck her, if there was something about the royal family that she had noticed was the fact that they were proud. She made a decision to feed his ego, “Magic is a gift bestowed on only a chosen few, for the elites. It is for those who are worthy of it”, she explained her head bowed, “For those who the gods themselves have picked to wield this special kind of power. It is not for mere commoners like us…”, she looked at him, “We ordinary men can only stay from afar and worship, admire and revere those who have this gift”, she bowed her head again. Javaid was beaming with smiles at this point.

Magic Academy: Finding My Mate

Magic Academy: Finding My Mate

The girl is gorgeous until she sneers at me, her eyes looking me up and down. "Watch where you are going!" She shouts in the most dramatic way possible. "And what are you wearing? If you are a student, you need to wear the color of your house. Aren't you sorted yet?" "Sorted?" I ask. Two other girls are glaring at me from behind the blonde girl, clearly her little minions. They all wear the same blue cheerleading clothes, and blondie got pointy ears—definitely Fae. "At Magic Academy, there are four houses; each one represents an element—as you can see, we all belong in the house of water. It values beauty, but beauty doesn't seem important to you since you're wearing those clothes."

The Rise of the Frost Dragons (Blue Triangle Series #2)

The Rise of the Frost Dragons (Blue Triangle Series #2)

As he glanced back, Magus Jade was still speaking incantations with his eyes and his chest glowing in red light, standing in a magic circle. “It’s almost done,” Gared replied. Kael looked around and found the red petals multiplying while flying in a large circle. “Stay close,” Magus Jade suddenly spoke. “They can’t harm us now.” Kael reeled back as he watched the beasts trying to pass through the circle, only to get slashed by the countless petals. Looking up, the petals rose into the skies, still circling the group along with the strong wind. A tornado had been summoned. “Terra … Foramen …” Magus Jade cast, as his chest kept releasing red strings of alar, absorbed by the magic circle he sto

The Triad Wolf

The Triad Wolf

A couple days after the Rebel’s attempt at attacking, Magis, the werewolf King, came with a section of his Elite Werewolf Army. I greeted him with my mates. I couldn’t move around well anymore, so I was either carried or on bed rest. I had a wheelchair, but I preferred my mates carrying me, and loved to feel spoiled by them. We were in the formal sitting room when Den Leader Jargon came into the room to tell us that King Magis had come. I tried to stand for my old King, but my mates made sure I stayed laying down on the deep blue, velvet couch.

Magic by Moonlight

Magic by Moonlight

I raised an eyebrow at his story, still not understanding its relevance. "One day the man and the woman had a baby girl. But this girl was no ordinary girl. She was special," he said, inspecting his nails casually. Then his eyes lifted to mine. "She was one born of magic, and of the moon." Shock ripped through my body at his words, but I schooled my face into neutrality. "And what does this fairytale have to do with me?" I asked. Damion burst out laughing and slapped his knee. Within an instant, he had shoved himself off of the stool and dropped down on his knees in front of me so that we were eye to eye.

Frequently Asked Questions

I recently stumbled upon this gem titled 'Shadows of the Rukh' on AO3 that completely reimagines Judar and Hakuryuu's dynamic. It starts with Judar surviving the aftermath of 'Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic' and being forced to confront his past atrocities. The author brilliantly weaves in flashbacks of his childhood with Hakuryuu, showing how their bond was twisted by external forces. The redemption arc isn't rushed; Judar slowly earns Hakuryuu's trust by protecting him from assassins during a political coup in Kou. What stands out is how Hakuryuu's PTSD isn't magically cured—he still flinches at Judar's touch initially, but their shared trauma becomes a bridge instead of a wall. The fic explores Judar's guilt through his nightmares, where he relives Hakuryuu's arm loss, and culminates in a raw confession scene during a sandstorm in the desert. The author uses Aladdin as an unintentional mediator, which feels true to canon.

Another layer I loved was the parallel between Judar's red hair and Hakuryuu's scar—both visual reminders of their pain that gradually become symbols of healing. The smut scenes (few but impactful) focus more on emotional vulnerability than physicality, which fits their characters. Minor spoiler: the final chapter has Judar planting magnolias (Hakuryuu's favorite flowers) in Reim's ruins as metaphor for growth. It's not a perfect fairytale ending—Hakuryuu still has trust issues and Judar occasionally backslides—but that realism makes it satisfying. The fic cleverly incorporates lesser-known lore from 'Magi: Adventure of Sinbad' about dark rukh purification too.
