“And you’re matching with mum!” A smile crept up my face despite my tiredness. I wouldn’t say we matched entirely. I was in khaki colored pants and a matching shirt, my hair was tucked under a brown cowboy hat, and the words ‘jurrasic world’ was plastered on the front pocket of my shirt. “Did you know the T-rex had the strongest bite of any land animal in the whole world?” Yup, every house we went to got their own dinosaur fact. “Wow! Even though the exterior of the building seemed like a magnificent Roman empire palace, the interior was more modern than the word ' modern ' itself. The entrance was a long hallway that had glass paneled spaces side by side, leading out to the reception area where a large 18 ft tall fossil bones of a dinosaur was. The dinosaur was facing the hallway, and so when we first saw it, we thought that it was some sort of creature stationed there by the witches to guide us to where the gathering will be held, but alas, the dino dude was barely even alive when we got closer.

He tucked his elbows in, wiggling his tiny fingers like useless claws. I laughed so hard I nearly missed the turn. "So you're telling me the 'king of the dinosaurs' couldn't even scratch an itch?" "Yep! If a mosquito bit him, he'd just have to suffer." Harry grinned, clearly enjoying his superior dinosaur knowledge. Cross pretends not to notice. Mason definitely notices nothing. He’d been roaring like a T-Rex around the house for weeks, so it only felt right to turn our backyard into a mini Jurassic Park, minus the scary parts. Party coordinators arrived early with crates full of prehistoric magic. Inflatable palm trees, dino-print tablecloths, and balloon sculptures that looked like they’d stomped right out of the Cretaceous. I pointed to a corner and said, “That’s where the excavation zone goes.” Within minutes, they had set up a sandbox with buried ‘fossils’ for the kids to discover with tiny brushes and shovels. I hung a banner over the patio that read: Welcome to Chen’s Dino Domain.

All of that looked very suspicious. I made my way across the classroom, weaving between tiny tables and chairs until I spotted Alexander and Ethan hunched over sheets of paper, crayons scattered around them like confetti. "Mama!" Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves loomed behind the desk, filled with hundreds of books. Various curious objects were used as bookends, such as a saber-tooth tiger's skull, a hadrosaur's leg bone, and a cast model nest of oviraptor eggs. The nest would have been the most valuable piece in his collection if it hadn't been a replica. She'd heard real nest fossils went for a several million dollars at auctions.
