The door moved open and Jaren walked in, holding a carton bag. He stared at us, Alex holding my arm tightly as a smile brightened his face.
Then,
“I brought you a new shirt. I figured that one would be soaked with blood,” he walked fully into the room, closing the door behind me.
Alex pulled his hand off my arm, grabbed the carton bag, and removed a fresh white shirt. “You brought a white shirt for someone who just got injured?” He threw an incredulous glance at Jaren.
Jaren blinked. “I just,” he hesitated, “grabbed whatever.”
Alex shook his head, stretching his hands towards me. “Just walk into the shirt, I’ll button it up for you.”
