Jane I blinked, trying to process his words but I couldn't make sense of it. My heartbeat escalated, "I don't understand." This was his chance to laugh and play it off and say it was nothing but a joke but he wore that smile again, the one where you coild tell that there was definitely something wrong.

I clicked on the file and began to work with determination. Suddenly, my hand was in a vice grip. "J-just stop for a second." Shane could not handle it anymore. "Mr. Lawson, what's wrong? I'm really focusing on my work now. You're messing up my flow." The mouse accidentally slipped to the menu bar. Shane collapsed into his chair. "Please, no." I glanced at the mouse. "Mr. Lawson, if I don't finish these files, I'll have to work late tonight."

I muttered, trying for a smile. I smacked her hand. “Ouch...hey??” “You can have any” I told her, picking it up. Ada followed her in, checking a small folder in her hands. “Vitals before breakfast,” she said gently. Aria rolled her eyes but held out her arm. I watched Ada wrap the cuff around her bicep, her movements efficient but never rushed. When the machine beeped, she scribbled the numbers without fuss. “Still good,” Ada said.
