2:15 in the afternoon, I finally get inside the plane. Getting new hair color makes me feel like a different person. The plane is about to take off but I haven’t find the man in the picture. James said he will drop me call but all I got is a disposable device full of instruction and burst out after he had just finished talking. He gave me a ring to serve as a tracker and communication device to him and a pile of documents to read. The plane is starting to get off the ground; I suddenly miss my old pillow and my mother’s cookie. He said this will be a long project, when will I can get home?

My voice turned icy as I faced the other man who had spoken. "You as well. When you were unable to feed yourself because you had no commissions, I was the one who gave you part of my dividends. Did you all forget that?" Mary clenched her fists and cut me off. "What's the use of bringing up small favors? Why didn't you mention just how much you've earned all this time? "It's a senior's duty to help the newcomers. Now that you've been fired, are you going to hold that over everyone's heads?"

It included a picture of a multi-million dollar luxury car, and the caption, “I love my job, but I love my boss even more!” He obviously could not afford that car on his salary. I smiled exasperatedly. It was obvious that Nia bought it for him. The moment I liked the story, though, he blocked it. The next second, Nia called to yell at me. “Jonah just signed a huge contract, so I gave him a little reward. Did you have to scold him on Instagram over something like that? Don’t push your limits just because I’m kind to you!” I heard Jonah blaming himself and my wife Nia comforting him on the other side of the phone. Before I could say anything else, she hung up on me and blocked my number.

“No, that’s where you’re wrong. You’re more important than any job.” “Okay, wait. Look at it this way: your job and the money you earn are what will help us solve this problem. If you leave now and head over here, you won’t get paid. That’s a loss, which means we’ll be even further behind in gathering money for the surgery.” “You’re right. Ugh, I hate when you’re right,” I say in frustration. “Wait, if you were feeling lightheaded, how did you get to the hospital?”

"Muertow?" He frowned. "Reagan, it's muerte." I brandished my hands up in the air frustrated. "Why am I studying this anyway? Does studying different languages get me through life?" He sighed, shaking his head. Here we go. "Extra knowledge doesn't hurt Reagan. It will get you through with life and it's a plus point to your credentials." I scoffed. "Yeah right. Credentials my ass." He glared. "Language, young lady." Oops.

"That's really nice of you." "No, it comes with a price," Jill replied confidently. "It's more like we both benefit from each other. In short, we're friends with benefits." Wayne looked troubled, glancing around nervously, hoping no one would overhear their conversation. Frustrated, he whispered to Jill, "What the heck, Jill! You shouldn't say those words in public!" and slapped her hand.

I nipped at my fingers, then sighed as the silence grew too deafening, especially with all the noises in my head. "Shouldn't you be angry?" I finally asked, breaking the silence as we rounded the corner to my place. I knew he could remember handing me the scholarship in that ceremony. "Your family gave me this scholarship." He turned to me for a brief second before he turned back to the road. "My family. Not me. I don't exactly care. Besides, I know you didn't do it." My brows furrowed. "Why are you doing this? Because if you are interested in me, just know that I..."

Ken In my office, I smiled as I replayed the scene from minutes ago in my mind. The words I told her echoed again. I had said I was just caring, that I’d do it for anyone. A big, fat lie. I cared for my employees, yes—but that was financial, giving them a better working environment. It stopped there.
