"So you mean to tell me you don't know anything about Tik Tok, or I*******m or Twitter, what the fuck do you do when you're bored?" Tik tok, I*******m and twitter, all the names Lucy was calling sounded foreign to me, I stared at her with blank eyes looking lost, there wasn't a chance to get bored in my life. My life was filled with activities, living with Matteo was so much work I doubt if there was any room for boredom.

Out of nowhere, a message popped up on my screen from my boss, Shane Lawson. Shane: [Bring me a pack of tissues.] I clenched my teeth. 'Can't he grab his own tissues? 'Is he actually incapacitated, or is he just too lazy to move?' I wondered. Biting back my annoyance, I grabbed some tissues and headed into his office. Shane was half-asleep at his desk, looking all hot and bothered. Was he sick? Was he feeling bad? I set the tissues down on his desk. "Mr. Lawson, you really should look after yourself."

Emily burst into tears. "I bought that bag of powder from the pharmacy. The employees told me that athletes consume that powder to boost their performance. So, I bought it for Julie to help with her competition." She proceeded to punish herself. "It was all my fault. I had no idea that it was a banned substance. Curse at me or hit me if you want. I'm so useless—I couldn't even do one thing right." With that, she successfully earned Elijah's sympathy. He pulled her into a hug.

The room fell into a brief silence after that, and for a moment, all I could hear was the faint sound of my own breathing and the soft hum of the ceiling fan above us. Then Jane nudged me lightly. ‘Just reply him. Don’t overthink it too much.’ I nodded slowly, even though overthinking was already exactly what I was doing. My fingers finally moved. I’m not overthinking it either. That wasn’t entirely true, but it was the safest version of the truth I could offer. Before I could change my mind, I hit send. Almost instantly, the three dots appeared. Jane leaned in again. ‘He’s typing already? God, this man doesn’t waste time.’

he said. Little Bean looked at us with a pout. “Daddy, you really are so annoying. Just wait until I grow up. Mommy is going to be mine alone,” I heard him complain. But I caught sight of a little girl at the door. That was Little Sweet Pie, Dan's and Emah's child. She was only four months younger than Little Bean. I winked at Little Bean, who was still complaining. “Your girlfriend is pouting over there,” I said.

"We'll see." It took her a minute to remember what it was they were talking about and when she did she ducked her head and went back to eating. The look he gave her left no mistake as to his meaning but she'd been down that slippery slope once already and had no intention on going for another ride. Especially not with someone that looked like him; he was the poster boy for Player's R'Us. No way no how! Besides, they'd only just met a few hours ago. The man was crazy.
