Still bleeding. Kael is still cutting. He removes the gag from Clinton's neck entirely. Lets him scream properly. Lets him beg properly. Lets him cry for his daughters one more time before the end. "My girls," Clinton sobs. "Please. Please. Don't let them grow up without me. Don't let them be orphans. Please. Please." Kael doesn't answer. He just cuts. Clinton's screams are raw now. Animal. They don't sound like words anymore. Just pain. Just terror. Just the sound of a soul leaving a body piece by piece.

"Ismael Kiplimo!" He witnessed a shocked frightened look in her eyes. A shock of realization. Tears welled up in her eyes. It was obvious she was going to cry. She shrank down the couch and lowered her eyes covering them with a leso and broke into tears. She shamelessly cried like a little kid. Mary crossed over to comfort her. "Don't cry sis. It is alright."

I didn’t need to speak; I just let my feelings bleed through the link, rippling into him like stones dropped into a quiet pond. 'I thought you were dead.' 'You’re really here.' 'I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry.' Kael didn’t move. He stood there like a stone wall against the world, soaking up every bit of my rage, my guilt, and my heartbreak. He held me tighter, refusing to let me shatter. A warm drop hit my temple. I pulled back just enough to see his face. His cheeks were wet. Kael was crying too. "Kaia…" he choked out. His voice was a jagged, broken mess.

“Why do you look shocked?” Kael realized he still had his mouth open, then he pursed his lips and shook his head. “Forgive me. You were asking?” Luna nodded. “I heard the news … about the king … and about your walk.” Kael looked down. Suddenly, her words were rubbing off the pain that had slept in his chest. He didn’t want to cry in front of her. But he found his tears falling on the snow. Then he squeezed his eyes shut. “I did my best. I …” He paused when he felt her hand on his shoulder, then her embrace made him cry louder.

"KILLIAN NO—" He grabbed Killian's shoulders and shook him. "Wake up. Wake up. I still have to punish you for Dad." He slapped Killian's face—gently at first, then harder. "Come back. Please. I'm begging you. Come back—" But Killian didn't move. Kael collapsed backwards, his hands in his hair, pulling at it like the pain could distract from the agony in his chest. A sound came from him that had no name—something between a howl and a sob.

FROST’S POV “Kieran?” I took a step toward him. “What’s wrong? Why are you—” A tear slipped down his cheek, and then another, and suddenly he was full-blown crying, his shoulders shaking as he tried and failed to hold it back. “I’m sorry,” he choked out, wiping furiously at his face. “I just—I’m so happy for you, Caelan. So incredibly happy.” My throat tightened. “You’re crying because you’re happy?”

“Let me go, Kaiden, please,” Kailani begged. “I don’t want to do this. You’re my brother.” Kaiden was jolted out of sleep by the noise. He sat up abruptly to find Kailani struggling and crying in her sleep. “Kayla? Wake up!” he shook her. “Kaiden!” she shouted, jerking up on the bed, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She cowered upon seeing him, her hand clawing at her chest.

Then suddenly, Kaelan began to sob. I felt shattered watching him go through that much pain.. Kaelan never cried.

Everyone was panicking and running from one place to the other. I moved upstairs where I met Kaia in tears. “Kaia?“ When her eyes caught mine, she rushed up to me; hugging me ever so tightly. “Aklan, what do we do?' Refining from her, I asked. “Hey, what happend?“ “It's Cali” She responds with a shaky voice. “The pack doctors just announced him dead”
