~Damien/Kali~ He was sweating and tired, his wings aching. The training was tiring, but Kali had volunteered to train him. And you don't say no when a deity tells you they're training you. He wiped the sweat from his brow and straightened. "How was that?" The dummies lined up were tattered. Kali inspected each, poking at them with her claws. "Hm, not bad. Though your execution was slow and the technique was sloppy. Try it again." She dragged away the tattered dummies, coming back with new ones.

He stood with a firm but relaxed posture, giving instructions and corrections in a firm but encouraging voice. “Widen your stance, Marcus!” he shouted at one of the young warriors. “Balance is key in battle.” I stood at the edge of the field, watching with a smile. This was the Kaelos I knew—an engaged leader, a caring mentor, an Alpha who was truly present for his pack.

I murmured. “Yes.” The honesty in her voice hit harder than expected. I leaned slightly closer. “I’ll come back to you.” Her eyes searched mine carefully, almost like she was trying to decide whether to trust that promise. Finally she whispered, “You sound too calm.” “Inside my head is worse.” That nearly pulled a small smile from her despite the situation, almost. But before either of us could say anything else, Kael approached. His expression was serious now. “No more distractions,” he said directly to me. “If you’re fighting Tristan, training starts now.”

He was an older man. I forced my face to stay calm and relaxed as I walked forward, trying not to show the grin tugging at my lips. The trainer gestured to me. "This is Skyler Gale. He will be mine and every other trainer’s assistant for the most part of this class." I gave a small nod to both of them. This time the assassin switched cores—the air cooled—Caligo swirled around their arm—a shadow spear formed and hurled toward Kael’s throat. Alessia screamed, “KAEL!” He didn’t dodge. Kael crushed the spear between his fingers, Caligo dissolving like black dust. The assassin leaped backward, landing on the half-shattered balcony rail. “Who trained you?” Kael’s mask tilted. “Not your concern.”

“ I ’ve allowed about it, however. ” I rumored. “ Oh my goddess, you need to touch him. ” She yelled in a hushed tone. I rolled my eyes, “ I've a mate, and he has one too, ” I reminded her. “ Yeah. But your mate is an arsehole. perhaps you ’re the first to get a alternate mate, ” She signed. “ Just touch him. ” She deadpanned. “ Fine, I'll the coming time I see him, ” I lumbered. She chortled, and we halted as the sisters did. “ Well, we ’re then, ” Caleb blazoned as he turned to us. “ Drink to KS Guidance. ” Carson beamed. I looked around at the massive training field. “If you are here to make fun of her, do not bother. We were in the middle of training.” Kael ignored her and looked at me. “You want to get stronger, right? Then stop wasting your time.” My brows furrowed. “What is that supposed to mean?” He stepped closer, “If you really want to improve, you can beg me to train you” “Never” I responded flatly, and my answer only amused him. “She already has someone to train her,” Ivy said. “Not good enough” Kael simply stated. “Trust me her trainer is better than you”

“I have completed it in stages, but never all at once. I got really close today, so hopefully next time I will nail it. Out of all of us, Tobias is the only one who’s completed it in one go more than once, Aiden managed it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.” Weirdly, that makes me happy. “Well, if you need training tips, just let me know.” I smirk, only half-joking.
