“Whether Ethan likes it or not, we’re going to his wedding.” He glanced at her, brows raised. “Grandma asked me to deliver something to Ethan before the ceremony.” She gestured to a small black box on the counter. “What’s in it?” he asked. She shrugged, “No idea. Didn’t check.” Curiosity piqued, Nathan opened the box. Inside lay a single, exquisite brooch — a deep emerald at its center, rimmed with delicate sapphires and cruel little platinum thorns that shimmered under the kitchen lights.

~Julian~ Martha opened the first box like a woman unwrapping something she had been promised in a dream for years and had stopped believing would actually arrive. Inside sat a crystal decanter set, hand-cut, the kind of thing that belonged in a museum case more than a liquor cabinet, and she made a small, delighted sound that David echoed a moment later when his own box revealed a set of cufflinks I recognized immediately as a brand that did not produce anything under five figures.

"What… what do you mean?" Mr. Sterling walked over to a small, sleek drawer in the wall and returned with a small, black velvet box. He opened it. Inside, nestled on a bed of black satin, was a thin, elegant silver chain. It looked like a necklace, but there was no clasp, just a small, permanent-looking ring.

"We can call Merlin first. Have someone screen it properly." "If they wanted me dead, they wouldn't have gone through the front desk with a signature requirement." She said it steadier than she felt, already working the paper loose. "This isn't a bomb, Kaelen. It's a message. I'd rather read it now than spend all night imagining what it says." Inside the wrapping sat a small, unmarked jewelry box, and inside that, resting on a bed of tissue paper gone brittle with age, a delicate silver bracelet, tarnished at the clasp, a dark, rust-colored stain crusted along one edge of the chain.

“I’m just tired of all this pretending.” Lilith was quiet for a moment as she arranged a few loose curls around my face. Then she stepped back and reached into her pocket, pulling out a small jewelry box. “I have something for you,” she said, holding out the box with a smile. “Something that might lift your spirits.” Curious, I opened the box. Inside was a delicate silver locket, clearly old but beautifully maintained. The surface was engraved with intricate swirls and what looked like tiny flowers. “It’s gorgeous,” I breathed, lifting it carefully from the box. “Where did you get it?”

Clever little angel, Bane thought. “I got it after uncle Jonas admitted to being a gambler the first time,” Emma explained as she opened the safe and took out a small jewellery box. She opened it and Bane couldn’t help but to look inside. There were some necklaces, some earrings and bracelets. Nothing that looked really expensive, but he guessed the emotional value was high.

“Oooh. Interesting.” I lift the lid of the box, revealing a delicate oval locket nestled inside. The cover is traced with intricate golden filigree, curling in patterns so fine they almost shimmer in the light. I unclip the tiny clasp, and the locket creaks open. A small, tightly packed ball of crushed herbs tumbles out and rolls onto my palm. I bring it closer, sniffing cautiously—then recoil, grimacing at the strong, bitter scent. “That smells awful.”

I got curious my heart pounded even harder when I saw the contents of the small box. A complete set of earrings and necklace with a very old-fashioned design but the artistry is still very impressive. It looked like a family heirloom so I closed it immediately. "Who would give me this?..." I whispered in disbelief. The rubies and emeralds plus diamonds in the necklace are already caused a fortune and I know they are very expensive. I noticed a small note beneath the back of the box. There's a little secret pocket in there but seems like it was never discovered because it's not loosen up.

Inside the plain box was a set of gold accessories—earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, and… a tiara? The box was directly under sunlight, so the golden light filled the space as if we stumbled upon a gold mine. I looked at Colin wryly while he grimaced in resignation. Who would have thought that the gift was a set of pure gold accessories?

The first box opens with a soft clack. Then another. And another. One by one, the men flip open the sacred velvet cases, revealing a collection of necklaces so stunning they look like they belong in a fucking museum. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds—each stone cut to perfection, catching the dim chandelier light like a beacon. They glisten in their cases, waiting to be draped around some lucky woman’s throat like a collar. A Morozov collar. I glance at Konstantin, who stands at the head of the room, completely at ease in the center of it all. His eyes are impassive, scanning the selection like he’s choosing a fucking weapon, not a necklace.
