Natali Hye Chen sat behind her desk in the marketing division, her eyes fixed on the computer screen in front of her. On the display was a photo—taken from the charity gala security footage—of Kayla Reeds standing beside Jordan More, their hands just barely touching as they watched Qing Lin dance with Liam. Natali had been collecting information on Kayla for weeks, ever since she’d spilled coffee on her hand in the break room. Something about the woman had rubbed her the wrong way from the start—too quiet, too determined, too close to Liam for Natali’s liking.

“She is the best cook in the entire pack. She wins every seasonal competition. Her floral arrangements are offered at temple ceremonies.” The list of Kayla's talents was endless, painting a picture of a perfect housewife straight from the 1950s. But still, I tried my luck and asked. “That’s great, Lauren. What’s her qualification?” Lauren paused mid-step, her eyes narrowing a bit. “That’s her qualification, Luna. She graduated at the top of her class in the women’s academy.” My breath caught, “Women’s academy?”

She was wondering who it would be because right now she's not in her right frame of mind to pick up any call or be nice to anyone. The moment Nyx saw who the caller was, she picked it up immediately, as she cannot avoid Sharon's call. Sharon is her best friend, although they are in some sort of competition, and the only thing that Kayla has that she doesn't have is being involved with an Alpha. This is one of the reasons why she can never accept Callan’s decision to call it quits.

She did not have to wait long. Harper appeared from the stairwell. She was tall with lean muscles, and her blonde hair was let down in a wavy style. She was in the grey uniform of the Pack’s inner guard, and there was a knife at her hip and a scar close to her eyebrow that pulled when she smiled. And she was smiling. It was not a friendly smile. “Hello, Kayla,” Harper said, her voice low and smooth. “Good to see you, future Luna." Kayla straightened, lifting her chin. “Hi Harper.”

Whatever they were talking about sounded important. "We should have been informed of all this earlier; then, we could have done something to stop it from happening", my mum whispered angrily. "They have put not only her life but ours on the line. I always knew this would happen." "you can't blame Luna", my dad defended. "I'm not blaming Luna; I'm blaming the gods and goddess. I'm blaming the elders, and I'm blaming her mother." I was about to walk in and ask what they were talking about when Jack spoke. "can you stop calling her Luna her name is Blair, and it has been for the past 18 years"

I was about talking when Anita came over. "Hmm...What's going on here?" she asked Lexy putting her hand on lexy's shoulder. "Kelsi here is the daughter of our maid that was sent out of the house last month...." Lexy replied her, looking at me with disgust, ".... And she had the guts to lie to me, telling me her dad is abroad overseeing his business there" I felt ashamed of myself that moment. "Wait! What?" Now the whispering coming frim every corner was getting louder, some of the class mate were covering their mouth in shock, including Anita.

Evelyn's POV "I, Alpha Kyle Turner, reject you, Evelyn Sanders, as my mate." Alpha Kyle hoarse voice boomed in my ears making me freeze on my tracks, his voice laced with disgust. Crack! A cracking sound resounded inside my body and I felt as if a part of me was forcefully torn and taken away. My wolf howled in pain but there was nothing I could do about it. Tears flowed down my face as the pain became immeasurable, increasing with each second to the point I was unable to tolerate it. I could care less about the gazes on me. I was already used to it.

She knew exactly what she was doing. Kayla was in Vermont Pack, and she came here to announce herself. But why? And mostly. “What the hell just happened?”

I have one friend that I trust, and she is my one-phone-call kind of friend. Kayla is the pack Gamma's daughter. He is in charge of training the pack warriors and head of security. Hudson convinced her, and she nodded; as she stood up, Hudson passed her the bowl of popcorn, and thanking him, she left; she didn't see me as she took the other way. After Ana disappeared, Hudson brought out the phone and, playing the video, he showed it to the woman, Dahlia, who immediately after seeing it got on her knees, which now confused me. “I can explain; I swear I didn't mean to; I had no choice.” She defenselessly raised her hands in the air, which was confusing to watch.
