she said, stepping out of the booth, her bag slung over her shoulder.
Kane nodded. "Let's go."
The night air smelled like rain and asphalt. The streets were nearly empty, the city humming with an eerie quiet.
Kane led her to his truck, its massive frame towering over her.
Her eyes widened. "Wow. You have a truck too?"
