Beth had personally arranged for Dr. Imran Saleh, one of the city’s most discreet and skilled cosmetic surgeons, to perform the minor jaw reduction. She’d even paid extra for confidentiality, discretion, and speed.
The door to the recovery room opened. A nurse wheeled Jordan out slowly. He was groggy, eyelids fluttering, a white bandage wrapped around the lower half of his face.
Beth stepped forward.
“Hey, hey,” she said softly, brushing a curl of hair away from his forehead like a mother might a sleeping child. “It’s done. You did great.”
