I slipped inside like a shadow. The room smelled of dust and ink. Shelves towered above me, scrolls stacked and bound with red string. My fingers moved quickly, silently. I knew how the system worked, I’d catalogued these records once, years ago, before my voice was taken and my usefulness reduced. I found Kieran’s name. I wish I hadn’t.
