"Don't do it, Lyra," Killian growled, his voice a low, gravelly rasp against my ear. His breath was cold, his body shivering violently as the frost began to creep toward his chest. "Let me tear them apart. Let me die a wolf."
"I am not letting you die, Killian," I whispered, my fingers clawing into the thick, corded muscles of his back, drawing thin, red lines of heat across his skin.
I took a slow, agonizing step forward, my combat boots clicking against the bronze plates of the platform. I let my hands fall to my sides, my palms raw and blistered from the bypass lever. I looked directly into Kaelen's
