"Healer! Somebody help! Help!" The commotion spread rapidly through the Alpha's estate as guards came running while servants rushed in. And moments later—The healer arrived. She immediately pushed through the crowd and knelt beside her, checking her pulse. Then again, and again, the room became deathly silent. Slowly— The healer lowered her hand, her expression darkened. The maid began crying harder and several servants covered their mouths. The healer finally stood., then bowed her head sadly. "Luna Lyria..." She paused. "...has joined the Moon Goddess."

Reed made a thin, broken sound. Cassia started to cry again, quietly, like an animal that has learned noise gets nothing. Marla said nothing at all. Greta exhaled like a finally-won point. “Moon likes her balance,” she murmured. Kade’s voice went ceremonial-soft. “You heard your Luna.” Lillieth’s lashes fluttered. She didn’t contradict it. Draven’s eyes flared—there and gone—but he didn’t correct a single syllable. “Lux,” Kade said. “By her order: water.”

I shout, marching over to rip her a new one. As I lock eyes with the woman, a shiver runs down my spine. She appears to be in her twenties, with flowing black hair and piercing white eyes that seem to glow. She's wearing a simple, black maxi dress with a low neckline that highlights her fair, generous figure. I can sense everyone's aura in here but hers. A wave of recognition washes over me, causing me to freeze in place. It's her. It's the Moon Goddess. Or at least the form she has taken.

She carried a tray of bread, cheese, and something that smelled suspiciously like wine. “You must be the new sacrifice,” the girl said cheerfully, setting the tray on a side table. “I’m Kira. Dorian’s cousin. Well, one of his cousins. There are like, twelve of us. It’s a whole thing.” Selene blinked. “Did you just call me a sacrifice?” “I mean, yeah? That’s what you are, right? I turn to her calmly and cold. “Mira will never be forgotten,” I say. “She is a threat that must be erased from history.” Her face turn pale. I catch the flicker of fear and doubt in her eyes. She finally understands. KIRA’S P.O.V The cell I was locked in is very cold. I press my forehead to the stone wall and whisper into the dark. “Moon Goddess please.” My hands shake. “I failed her. I know that. I was weak. I was afraid.”

“You think he loves you,” Kara's familiar voice startled Aria as she shut her door. She turned around to see Kira staring at her like a predator sizing up its prey. “How did you get in here?” “You think all this is going to work because the elders haven't said anything yet.” She continued, ignoring Aria's question. “They're going to turn their backs on you before you know what is going on.” Aria swallowed hard as Kira started moving towards her. “I am the rightful Luna.
