Klaus was seated on amongst the high twelve, because he was the head of the table. By his right hand was Markus Dane, his best friend and brother, as it ought to be. In the dark field, under the blood red moon that settled in the sky that rested above all their heads, Klaus's ears paid attention to the eerie whistling of the wings of the night, and the rustling of the trees, the sound of gossip amongst plants. He was not supposed to keep his ears on the plants and birds, but he would rather do that than listen to the gibberish that was being melted out by members of the lower twelve that were seated around their round table.

I should consider myself lucky it lasted this long. “Didn’t it ever cross your mind that I just don’t want to see your face?” Klaus looked thoughtful for a moment; he even frowned, thinking deeply. “No,” he shook his head. “I mean, come on. Just look at me,” he gestured with his forefinger over his face and body. “I’m Klaus Martinelli,” he announced, chest puffing out as if that explained everything. I made a gagging sound. Klaus pulled out the cooked bacon and hash brown from the skillets.

Klaus just shrugged his shoulders, his nonchalant expression contrasting with the concern in my eyes. "Nope, why?" he asked nonchalantly, taking a sip of his red cup filled only with alcohol. "That bitch, Jessica, keeps bothering me by asking for Tyler," I grumbled, frustration evident in my voice. "You can just tell her to back off, and she'll stop," he simply said, leaning in closer to be heard. "Do you hate her that much?" I asked, my voice filled with genuine curiosity. Klaus’ intense gaze sent shivers down my spine. I had never seen him look so serious before.

Author pov “Klaus, your time is over!” My deep, resonant voice reverberated through the space as he stood at the entrance, gripping his weapon—a red-robed axe—with white-knuckled intensity, his gaze locked on Klaus. Lexi and Markus had to step aside, their expressions a mix of shock and disbelief. "Wow! It's been ages. Mr. Jed Bartlet!" Klaus exclaimed, stroking his hair as he approached the old man. Without missing a beat, he turned to Lexi and laughed. "Scared, are we?"

Xerxes nodded at her, smiling slightly once more as he gave her his permission. "Alright. We will support you." Alesteria's smile widened at this as she felt giddy suddenly, her eyes twinkling in delight. 'Then, I guess I shouldn't hold back.' "Klaus!" At Alesteria's call, Klaus came out of nowhere and bowed towards Alesteria. The men present in the room, excluding Xerxes, were surprised at his sudden appearance as they stared at him in surprise. Klaus didn't care about their stares and just focused on the grinning Alesteria.
