I grab them and walk back upstairs. I have a novel I've been hoping to finish, so I use the opportunity I had to sit on my reading desk and I sink myself into each chapter of the book, munching on the cookies alongside. My attention is long drawn into the book when I see Knox vibrating suddenly on the bed, turning his head from left to right. “Stop! No!” He murmurs. His words were audible despite not being loud. I stand up in fright to look at him closely. I find him in a pool of his sweat, despite how cold the room was.

I gasped, wide-eyed in shock. “You’re a man whore, she’s also a whor—-” Suddenly the sound of a fist connecting with the jaw and a crackling sound filled the room. The punch lands before the sentence finishes. A sharp crack echoes through the library. Kendrick stumbles backward, crashing into a shelf. Books fall to the floor in a cascade of dust and paper. I gasp, wide-eyed in bewilderment. Xavier’s fist is still clenched. His breathing is ragged and comes in short gasps, as if he is trying to take enough air in, in order to steady his breath.

Ronan leaned against the far wall, arms crossed, watching with that heavy stillness that usually preceded violence. Xavier stood closer. I could feel it in the air radiating off him — the way Marcus hovered just beneath the surface, unsettled and reactive. “You’re looking for something specific,” Ronan said. It wasn't a question. I didn’t look up. “I already found it.” That pulled both their attention. Xavier stepped forward, his eyes tracking the lines of the body. “Where?” I gestured toward Kael’s chest, the skin pale and waxen under the lamplight. “Under the surface.”

Zade swallowed hard. “That kind of strength,” Xander whispered, “pulls attention.” Zade’s voice was barely a breath. “Yours?” Xander exhaled shakily. “Violently.” The room went still. Something dark and warm coiled between them. Zade’s heart pounded so loudly he wondered if Xander could hear it. But before he could say anything, a loud knock made both of them jump. This one wasn’t polite like Draven’s earlier knock. It was urgent. Angry.

I nodded to Xavier, he had every right to hate me, and if that made him feel better, then I would take it. I closed my eyes as he raised the knife and waited for him to plunge it deep into my chest. Violet, " How dare you touch her! I will break your hand!" Knox's outburst was too terrifying to stand still. His voice cracked through the air, raw and feral. He threw some random punches until he barely managed to take a breath, his chest heaving, knuckles trembling with barely contained rage. I threw my arms around his waist, my fingers digging into his coat, pulling him away from Xavier with all the strength I had. My pulse hammered violently against my ribs. Xavier looked too shocked to make a sound, eyes wide, lips parted, frozen where he stood.

He grabbed his collar harshly and shouted at him. "DON'T TELL ME YOU HAVE STARTED WORKING FOR HIM-" "What if I say yes?" Noah looked at him with wide eyes. His grip on his collar slowly loosened. He was in a shock, complete shock. But how is this possible? Noah smirked at his panic-stricken face. Then all of a sudden the door bursted open revealing the one and only... Xavier Knights Along with Jennifer And Katherine Noah was shocked. He couldn't understand what the hell was going on infront of him. He kept staring at them with wide eyes as according to him both the girls were dead.

The dead grass around my knees bursts into smoking flames. I am pouring my life out into a dead thing, and the pressure is literally shaking it apart, its hollow bones cracking and pulverising as it twists into a shape that should not exist. “EMBER.” The roar of the world crashes back over me. Knox hits me from behind, his large hands clamping over my glowing ones. He flinches violently at the blistering heat of my skin, but he refuses to let go. He crushes his chest against my back, grounding me just like he did in the storage room.
