Ollie sat in front of a camera. The glow of a ring light framed his face, washing him in pale light. His expression was calm, distant, not the shy version of him I knew, not the guarded boy who smiled too carefully. He looked… different. Confident, practiced, like someone who knew he was being watched.
He leaned closer to the camera, reading something off the screen. Then he smiled, the kind of smile that wasn’t real, the kind that was meant to please someone else. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but I didn’t need to. I saw enough.
