She stepped closer and grabbed my hands, which made my whole face blush. But my embarrassment immediately turned to worry when she started to cry. "Dyrroth, I only got seven souls. I needed three more, and I couldn't do it. I don't know if I could continue doing it... I feel horrible... And that demon is going to return tomorrow... I don't know what to do!"

Dimitri replied, “Get her here as fast as you can! I need her to guide me to that cottage!” “Ah- Understood, My Lord!” the Lamia maid replied and went on her way. A few long minutes after, the Lamia returned with the Harpy. The Lamia stood there with poise, but the Harpy is obviously shivering in fear. The Lamia has already told her that she will not be punished, but being in the presence of the infuriated Lord like this is triggering all her survival instincts and she can hardly stand straight.

Before he can attack him again, the vampire holds the warewolf by it's neck and about to bite him but the warewolf dodges him away. The Vampire smirks at him with a cunning look. Soon he notices that the warewolf is now joined by another warewolf who is a shade of golden brown. The Vampire looks at her with utmost hatred and anger as he knew who it is. The Golden Vampire attacks him as well but the Vampire dodges it on to the black warewolf. Before the warewolves can get into their positions and attack him again, he disappears from there. Both Darcy and Xandier change back into their human form.

“Wanted for arson? You mean the crime you so meticulously set up? Like I would waste my time starting a fire to harm this good-for-nothing bastard who’s already on his way to hell.” Kylan stepped forward indignantly but a glare from Chase halted him in his tracks. I scoffed. He could be so vicious and manipulative out of sight but when he stood in from of his opponent, he was nothing but a coward. “Because you have a powerful lycan backing you, you think you’re all that now.” Lily sneered. “Let me break it to you that you aren’t.”

On a couch near the fireplace sat a very old wolf in human form, his thin glasses perched neatly on his nose as he read a stack of papers. “Maddox!” Damien’s deep voice broke the silence with a smile on his face. His arms spread wide like he was about to hug the old man. The old man rose slowly, but in a heartbeat, his form blurred and shifted. Bones cracked, fur sprouted, and before me stood a massive wolf, his silver-streaked coat bristling with age and power. Damien’s lips curled into a smirk as he too shifted, his Lycan form towering and regal. He looked magnificent—so magnificent that I forgot to breathe for a moment.

That made my stomach tightened and I said “Why?“ He smiled, “I'd like to talk to him” “That's not happening” I said immediately and he laughed heartily. “I figured you'd say that” Lyra then stepped forward from behind me and I instantly shot her a look “Lyra—” “What are you” she asked Delan calmly. He blinked once and smiled, “Straight to the point, I like that” He uncrossed his hands, “I'm a dhampir” My eyes widened as silence engulfed us then I started circling him curiously “Seriously?“

In twenty years of living, this was the first time I had encountered someone so arrogant and unreasonable. “What did you want me to say? I didn’t catch that.” “I’m a dog.” I played the recording out loud, a smile tugging at the corner of my lips. “Good. Everyone heard it.” Lily instantly realized she had been tricked. With a furious shout, she lunged at me, arms flailing. Ridiculous. Though the mark on my face suppressed most of my vampire strength, dealing with someone like her—baring teeth and claws—was no more difficult than teasing a cat.
