She had held me close as she vowed she would only ever love me, and that her love would never fade. It seemed she had long forgotten those vows, or perhaps they had been nothing but lies meant to deceive me. My friend’s furious swearing pulled me back to reality. “Jared, I can’t stand those cheating lowlives any longer. I’m going to beat the hell out of them!” I gave his shoulder a light pat. “Don’t worry. I won’t let myself be taken advantage of.” As I spoke, I held out my phone. My friend gasped. “So you already had a backup plan. I knew it; you’re no pushover. This time, those two cheaters are going to get their just desserts.”

"But since we're on the topic of roles, you do know your time will come too, right? Just like I and Osiris failed. So will you, and if you don’t die on the job like Osiris, you'll end up…. Just. Like. Me!” They laughed. Loud and obnoxious, one was a grating sound in my ears. The other? Sounded forced. "You’re something else. Seriously. I almost don’t wanna break your face." Joker drawled, wiping a false tear from his eye. "Almost?" I smirked. That one pissed him off, cause he slapped me. Hard across the face. My head snapped sideways, not really… just for dramatic flair. I let it hang, motionless. "Hey. Don’t kill him yet." Spear Guy said.

Roselle said with firmness and seriousness but she jolted when suddenly a loud laugh echoed in her room. Dennis the terrible joker!!!

Then he laughs. Not a polite chuckle. A full, head-thrown-back, shoulders-shaking, I-can’t-breathe laugh that echoes off the walls like a madman who just heard the best joke of his life. I sit there clutching my fake notes, smile frozen, brain buffering. His craziness is pretty serious.

Like I was a baby goat he was about to slaughter. His eyes were wide, unblinking and glassy with something deranged and hungry. It scared me more than the blood-crusted saw gripped tight in his other hand, its teeth glinting under the harsh fluorescent light. “Please… please… I’m sorry… I’m not—” The words tumbled out, frantic, but they were cut off when he threw his head back and laughed. It was a wet, tearing sound that ricocheted off the walls, filled the room, drowned everything else. He laughed so hard he doubled over, clutching his stomach, the sound manic and unhinged like the Joker tormenting Harley Quinn, except this wasn’t a performance.

He frantically closed his phone and set it face down. He stared at her amber eyes. No warmth, just indifference and exhaustion. Then she starts laughing. Full-blown maniacal laughter that even the Joker will say she’s lost her damn mind. She wiped the tear that formed in the corner of her eye, “You… You already saw the proof that I’m innocent, and you have the audacity to speak to me like that.” She expressed with an ear-to-ear grin that didn’t convey happiness. “I don’t even know who you are right now.”

I replied and laughed softly at my dirty jokes. "Did he do it? Who is the better fucker, the father or the son?" Luciano asked, I acted like I'm thinking about his question. "Of course you are the better and the best fucker. Zuck still needs a little practice, you should train him to be beast in bed." I replied and could not stop myself from laughing. I heard Luciano laugh too because of the antics I was telling him. Until now, it still surprised me and makes me happy in a strange way every time I make Luciano laugh or I see him laughing at some stupid jokes because I often see him laughing.

Not even the sun wanted to fully commit today. I didn’t move. I just laid there, puffy-eyed, mildly dehydrated, and hollow. Like a person-shaped balloon with all the good air let out. And then— Then I laughed. It started as a tiny huff, like a breath caught in the wrong place. But it grew. I sat up slowly, ran a hand through my hair, and just started laughing like a full-blown lunatic. Like, actual Joker-on-the-subway laughter. High-pitched. Slightly unhinged. The kind that would have gotten me committed if someone walked in.

He spat, and I placed my palms on my chest just to specify that I was worried. "I'm just concerned, you're the only friend I have." He pulled a sober face and then burst into laughter. "You're weird, you know that, right? You're cringing me out with those eyes," he said and then shook his head. "Joker," I commented, kicking my feet at the edge of the desk. "Believer," he snapped back, and I shook my head, laughing with him too, but I never meant that. He kept my hopes high and he's so unreadable. I was really mad, but then I only exhaled softly and gnashed my teeth.

The masked man pointed at me off-screen and snarled, “Listen! Don’t even think of calling the police! “If you want your boyfriend back, come here alone with 50 million dollars as ransom! “Once you land at Melvaris, I’ll send you the location.” I laughed as I watched Jason lying on the floor in the video. With a look of disgust, I said, “Hmm… look at the state of him after being tortured. I don’t want him anymore. Do whatever you want with him.” “What did you say? You don’t want him?” The masked man raised the electric baton and slammed it down on Jason’s leg again. Jason screamed and writhed on the floor in pain.
