He has his eyes locked on me, standing a foot away, suffocating me with his sheer size but I stand my ground and do the only thing I can do. I burst out laughing because he surely isn’t being serious, and this has to be the single most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. Into comical hysterics so intense I instantly bend double as tears fill my eyes and struggle to breathe through snorts. It’s not the most ladylike way to laugh at your enemy, but it’s genuine and it feels good to do it right in his face. My ribs are aching with the sudden exertion and he just stands stock still, staring at me as though he doesn’t understand the joke which only makes it all the funnier.

He spat, and I placed my palms on my chest just to specify that I was worried. "I'm just concerned, you're the only friend I have." He pulled a sober face and then burst into laughter. "You're weird, you know that, right? You're cringing me out with those eyes," he said and then shook his head. "Joker," I commented, kicking my feet at the edge of the desk. "Believer," he snapped back, and I shook my head, laughing with him too, but I never meant that. He kept my hopes high and he's so unreadable. I was really mad, but then I only exhaled softly and gnashed my teeth.

Fucking Darth Vader. And then it registers and I didn’t realize I was laughing until I looked around the room and saw Lucien, Leon, and Alora’s jaws on the floor. Ricardo is smirking but trying to cover it with his hand. And Tobias has his arms crossed across his chest still smiling like a fat rat in a cheese factory…

She had plunged at him like she wanted to bite him when he looked at her and as he screamed, she couldn't help but laugh. They were eventually thrown out of the cinema for disrupting the peace but after Jade had managed to convince Shawn that it was just makeup. She washed it off her face as Shawn couldn't bear to look at her. As they walked out of the cinema, Shawn grumbled about the prank while Jade kept laughing. She couldn't remember the last time she laughed that hard. She couldn't remember the last time she had been sincerely happy. She had never imagined she would ever be that happy again. But she knew it wouldn't last. And this time, it ended faster than she expected.

This was so comical that Vivian couldn’t restrain herself and burst out laughing. “Gosh!!! No!! That was so funny…” She hollered, holding her stomach… “Ha…ha…ha… Oh my God… that was ha…ha…ha… funnier than a joker…” Sandilo leaned forward and brushed a lock of her hair behind her ears saying, “I could play the role of a joker all my life if that is what makes you happy…” Vivian’s eyes teared up at this statement and she threw her arms around Sandilo…

“ Boss they’ve done it again , some fucker has a serious boner on getting you banged up “ Joker comes in slamming a folder down on my desk. I glanced up from the papers I had been reading and watched as he folded his long limbs into the chair in front of me. He pulls a joint from behind his ear and lights it up taking a deep drag and then drops his head back to blow the smoke up in the air. His blonde hair was up in a bun tied at the back of his head. His piercing blue eyes come back down to look at me and he raises a pierced brow at me.

He’s laughing. Not the polished CEO laugh I’ve heard in boardrooms. A real, helpless, boyish laugh that ends in a snort. Leo loses it. Falls off the stool giggling. I feel it start in my chest : small, traitorous, unstoppable. A laugh bubbles up , catches in my throat, turns into something that sounds dangerously close to a sob. But it’s not a sob. I’m laughing . I’m laughing so hard my eyes water and my ribs hurt and I have to grip the counter to stay upright .

Then he laughs. Not a polite chuckle. A full, head-thrown-back, shoulders-shaking, I-can’t-breathe laugh that echoes off the walls like a madman who just heard the best joke of his life. I sit there clutching my fake notes, smile frozen, brain buffering. His craziness is pretty serious.

Not even the sun wanted to fully commit today. I didn’t move. I just laid there, puffy-eyed, mildly dehydrated, and hollow. Like a person-shaped balloon with all the good air let out. And then— Then I laughed. It started as a tiny huff, like a breath caught in the wrong place. But it grew. I sat up slowly, ran a hand through my hair, and just started laughing like a full-blown lunatic. Like, actual Joker-on-the-subway laughter. High-pitched. Slightly unhinged. The kind that would have gotten me committed if someone walked in.
