Turning back to look at him, I inhaled some sort of powder and my thinking changed. "Will you follow me now?" Sage asked with a smile. "Yeah, sure." I answered and gasps filled the air. "Sage" Morgan roared. "You know black magic is forbidden in this kingdom. How dare you use it?"

He stepped between us to pluck the ring from Avery's fingers before she could slide it on. He studied it, turning it every which way, even holding it up to the fluorescent lights in the ceiling. "How did he manage that?" "Manage what?" I asked, a sinking pit growing in my stomach. "I told you my magic is based around Earth, right? Well, metal and gemstones are as much a part of earth as plants are. But what I see here is - I just can't figure out how a Necromancer could possibly produce a Witch's spell as intricate as this."

More than once, I tried to magic a mirror so I could talk to Snow in Sharra, but it didn't work. When I told Leo, he explained it's because while Polonias is tethered to Earth, it isn't part of the planes or realms within the planet. My magic doesn't work the same here, either. Like using different languages in different countries, magic requires different words depending on where I am. I tried to use Luminous to produce tiny stars in my room like I would on Earth. Instead, I lit up the whole castle, bright as a Christmas tree. Whoops!

"Witches are beautiful, and you're not an exception—close your eyes, and I will show you a portion of what you're capable of." My eyelids flutter close, and Lucy squeezes my hands. Tingles start inside my shoes, and I have to bite my lower lip at the thousand needles feeling traveling up my legs. Warmth spread within me, circling inside my chest and building up a vortex. "That's good, and now channel that magic, and give it to me." Without hesitation, I let Lucy have the accumulated energy, and then I'm allowed a glimpse of his train of thoughts. I see a mattress, bedsheets, and when I open my eyes, we are sitting on soft materials.

Curses and Hexes are one of the simplest dark magic to learn and master, you just have to mean what you say, say it truly and deeply, like you want it to happen, a mind faltering can lead to death, maybe it's not so simple, and considering I have created my own spells in Latin and Czesh, this should be a piece of cake.
