The boy leans against Nyra's leg like it's the most natural place in the world, while another moves closer to me, staring up as if deciding whether to try again. The door behind Nyra opens. Cooler air slips into the room. Two women step inside and slow the moment they see her. Their backs straighten automatically. “Nyra.” She turns. They move a few steps inside, attention fixed on her. Then their eyes shift to me. They hesitate. A brief glance passes between them before returning to Nyra, curiosity poorly hidden behind lowered gazes. “He's Ethan,” Nyra says. “My mate.” Their gazes widen in realization.

Fear tried to rise—but power met it, firm and unyielding. “Then I’ll be ready,” she said. Nyra’s lips curved slightly. “You’ll need more than raw power. You’ll need allies. Knowledge.” “I don’t trust easily,” Lunaria replied. Nyra smirked. “Neither do I. That’s why this works.” She tossed Lunaria a small leather-bound bundle. Lunaria caught it, surprised by its weight. “Maps. Old ones,” Nyra explained. “Marked with places the Moon still listens.” Lunaria’s breath caught.

You saw him carry me out of a city your maps don’t acknowledge. She turned, looking from Daire to Kieran to Rae and back. “You want to judge who stands with me?” she said. “Fine. Judge. Hard. But *I* decide who gets to try. Not Calista. Not Crowe. Not even you.” Nyra’s mouth twitched, respect and irritation mingling. “Authority,” she murmured to her commander. “She fits the stories.” The lead guardian inclined his head, a fraction. “Very well,” he said. “We will… watch.”

“She speaks truth. The Lunaris power answers need not blood. Watch.” The silver barrier pulsed again brighter. Then the vision came not just to me but to every wolf in the clearing. The echo shared it wide and clear like moonlight flooding a dark room. We saw Nyra inside a hidden cave deeper than the one we raided. She knelt before a jagged piece of ritual stone the fragment she escaped with. Thorn’s freed loyalists circled her their cloaks black and eyes glowing violet. Nyra chanted low words her hands pressed to the stone. Violet energy coiled upward thin tendrils reaching across the distance straight toward our camp straight toward the baby.

Her other hand pressed to Rowan’s sternum. “Nor do you, Rowan Vale.” Silver fire surged around us. Nyra’s voice rose with the wind, a divine decree that rattled every star in the sky. “You will rise together. You will be my vengeance. My restoration. My balance.” Her hand glowed brighter, searing against my heart. “Emara, rise as my Shadow Luna.” A shockwave blasted outward. “Rowan, rise as her Silver Guardian.” A second shockwave. Nyra stepped back as the world around us tore itself open in a spiral of moonlight.

At the perimeter, scouts in silver-and-black armor stepped forward, bows drawn—until they saw who approached. “Alpha Kael! Luna Aria!” one called out, lowering his weapon. “You’ve returned!” Aria gave a nod. “We have.” The guard’s eyes flicked to Nyra, who stood just behind Aria, her crimson eyes unflinching. “Is that…” “Yes,” Aria said before he could finish. “This is Nyra. My sister. She’s with us.” Murmurs passed among the guards, uncertain and tense, but no one stepped forward to challenge the decree.

The guard who had fathered her child walked behind her in even heavier chains. I said nothing. I just watched. Nyra stopped when she saw me. Her eyes burned with hatred, but there was fear there too. “Come to gloat, Lucien?” she asked bitterly. “Is this what makes you happy? Sending me to die in the frozen north?” I stayed silent, my sword resting at my side. The guards pushed her forward again. She laughed once, sharp and ugly. “You think this is over? I will survive. I always survive. And one day I will come back and take everything from you and your precious little omega.”

It’ll try to rewrite you. She steadied her breath. “Then it’ll have to try harder.” You think you’re strong enough to fight what made you? Nora didn’t answer. Her reflection rippled beneath the glass bridge for a moment, it wasn’t her reflection at all, but someone else’s. A woman crowned in light, eyes burning with gold fire. The first Guardian. Then the bridge cracked. “Move!” Grayson shouted. They ran. The light splintered beneath their feet, the canyon roaring as if alive. Lira leaped the last stretch, landing hard on the far side. Grayson followed, then turned, hand outstretched for Nora.

“The Blackridge Alpha has what is ours. I know you won’t mind helping.” Alpha Luca’s throat goes dry. His vision blurs. “Of course. We would love to help.” His beta’s mouth drops. “Alpha?” Ronan smiles. “We appreciate it.” “Mother,” Nyra says in reverence the moment she appears. That’s how I know, because she isn’t anything like the drawings in the books. She has no visible features. She shines as bright as the full moon. I can only make out the shape of a bow and arrow in her hand.
