Something in Leon’s face settled into something I recognized. Not relief. Resolve. “Kennedy,” he said, without looking away from me. Kennedy appeared at the gate with the expression of a man who had been listening to everything and had the grace to pretend he hadn’t. “Talk,” Leon said. Kennedy looked between us. Then he unclasp his hands from behind his back and reached into his jacket and produced a document I recognized — old paper, old ink, the specific quality of something that had been preserved carefully for a very long time.

Louis to tremble while Kelly looked like she had seen a ghost. "W-we are s-sorry, s-sir." Mr. Louis stuttered, scratching the back of his neck in the process as he refused to raise his head up. For several moments, he said nothing then finally, “I know what you see when you look at him.” Shannon frowned. “What does that mean?” Kennedy’s eyes remained on the photograph. “You see the man who helped you, the man who protected you, the man who made you happy, and you’re right, I know Sean isn’t Edward. He never was.” The confession surprised even Shannon because for a moment she thought she had gotten through to him.

His grip on me tightened slightly as if grounding himself. “I swear, I'll have you all arrested if you don't tell me who is behind this barbaric act” Then Leonard’s voice finally broke, sounding terrified. “It… it was them,” he stammered. “I mean… us.” “Kennedy asked us to do it… she’s his wife, but Brenda…his fiancée.. said she should be punished.” Zane slowly, he lifted his head. “I don’t understand,” he said quietly. “What kind of man has a wife and a fiancée at the same time?”

As she approached, their voices became clearer. "I do not endorse such a decision," Ronald fumed. "You think I wasn't in school when I gave birth to my first child? Huh? How did you think I started out young? Or should I start losing hope in my favorite grandchild?" "You know that's not going to happen," Donovan assured him. "Then be the powerful man that I see you becoming. Don't disappoint me now. You're a born leader.
