Novel & Cerita Light Blinking On Smoke Detector

I weigh my options and come up with a hasty plan I hope is enough to get me boarded. I open my duffel bag and say a little prayer of thanks for having a bestfriend like Ashley. I take out the zippo lighter I spot under some other items and a shirt I have no idea when I purchased. The perks of living with Roman. I had so many clothing items I never purchased with my own money. I flick open the lighter and turn it on, holding it under the cloth. When the cloth starts burning, I lift it carefully and place it under the smoke detector. The shrill sound of the fire alarm comes on and I have to cover my ears for some seconds to get my bearings.

It was about what was *under* it. The package began to emit a steady, rhythmic, blinking red light.

He let the embers burn briefly before putting them out. Ru’s eyes widened. “What are you doing? You’re going to set the smoke detectors off.” She could think of nothing else to say. While the blue light had been amazing, she was fairly certain that was fake. She had no explanation for the blaze he’d just shown her, and her mind was having trouble processing it. Looking up at the small wisps of smoke that dissipated into the air, Cutter shrugged. “Not any more smoke than burned popcorn, which is a daily occurrence around here.”

The words written on the back of the index card burned into my retinas, sharp and unforgiving, and the air in the dorm room suddenly felt too thin to breathe. He can't protect you through a screen, Jules, but I can see you right now. My heart slammed against my ribs with such violent force that my vision actually swam with black spots. I slowly, agonizingly, lifted my gaze from the card to the ceiling. Right above my bed, nestled in the cheap white plastic of the smoke detector, was a tiny, faint red LED light. It was blinking.

“I need you. We’re okay.” He searched my eyes for a moment longer, as if making sure I meant it, and then he kissed me again, deeper this time, his hands sliding down to grip my hips. The heat between us was overwhelming, a wildfire we’d been holding back for too long. But just as he started to lift my shirt over my head, the shrill beep of the smoke detector shattered the moment. We both froze, and then Talon cursed under his breath, pulling away to yank the pan off the stove. The eggs were blackened beyond recognition, smoke curling ominously toward the ceiling.

A tiny red light blinked. Once. Twice. Still active. Ryan noticed it too. His expression changed immediately. "Wait." James stared at the small device above them. A security camera. Old. Covered in dust. But the tiny red indicator continued flashing. Recording. Watching. James slowly walked closer. The entire crime scene suddenly felt different. Because for the first time since they entered the building, they realized something. They weren't the only ones who had been watching. Ryan stepped beside him. "Is that..."

Something that makes my heart soar. I pull it out and it's just as I thought. The sensor remote. I flick the switch in the opposite direction and a red light blinks thrice, signaling the sensor has indeed been turned off. I turn back to the unwanted baggage lying sprawled on the ground. "Now, what?"

She smiled as she had thought of something. She quickly stormed all over the spaces where she could find something to make fire until she got inside Bill’s bathroom. There, her eyes lit to see what she had been looking for. Bill’s bathroom had aroma candles. She quickly looked for the lighter on his cabinets then bingo! She found a gold slim lighter. With all the side tables and chairs over the other, Arabella successfully reached the fire sensor. With the candle already lit, she raised it to the sensor, and just a flip of a second, the fire alarm of the whole building resonated.

My skin buzzed, heat prickling against it. Out of nowhere, I saw a tall figure smiling at me. “Do you see that?” I whispered, voice shaking. ‘See what?’ Sai sounded distant now, muffled. “Someone,” I said hoarsely. “He’s just standing there—” The lamp flared one last time, a bright flash that swallowed the whole room in white. I screamed but no sound came out of my mouth. When my eyes adjusted, the smoke alarm was wailing. “No. No, no, no.”

The security camera’s red light was blinking—once, twice… then it held solid. From the screen came a faint click. And then— The feed went black.
