POV: Corin The air in the chamber was electric, heavy with tension, the smell of ozone and something metallic burning in my nostrils. Red lightning arced across the surface of the Gate, jagged and chaotic, illuminating every corner of the massive room in brief, violent flashes. The Gate pulsed like a living thing, twisting and shifting, bleeding unstable energy into the world.

The gate creaks open, revealing a path that leads to the outside world. With the danger escalating behind them, Amelia urges everyone to move swiftly. It wasn’t a request. The larger guard fumbled for the comm unit on his shoulder. “Command! We have a situation at the main gate! Single hostile—female—she’s… she’s got some kind of power!”
