The whole city would be here. Almost half the city filled the streets. There were plenty of stalls selling a variety of things. Lily held on to Jade and Phoebe as they walked along the streets. They were having fun—getting food to eat and taking pictures. The view was gorgeous. Lily could not help wonder what Darryl was currently doing. In the basement of the Hexad School Library, Darryl felt a buzz. Suddenly, his eyes opened wide, feeling the force of a strong aura emitting from his body.

Instead, she tightened her robe around her and left the room, seeking solace—or perhaps distraction—in the mansion’s quieter corners. As she wandered, the sound of muffled voices drew her attention. The hallways of the Vanderwilson mansion were expansive, almost labyrinthine, but Lilly knew them like the back of her hand. She followed the sound, her steps light and deliberate. The voices led her to the master library. She paused outside the grand double doors, her hand hovering over the brass handle. Curiosity bubbled within her, overriding any hesitation. Slowly, she pushed the door open just enough to peek inside.

The walls were lined with charts, notes, and photographs connected by strings—a spider web of connections and intel she’d painstakingly collected since she began focusing on the Hamilton. At the centre of it, all were Henry and Williams Hamilton, their faces circled in red ink.

Lily sighed, clearly resigned to let her cousin learn from her own inevitable mistakes. After the initial greetings and formalities, Lily stayed close to my side as I navigated the gathering. But soon, I noticed we were one wolf short. "Where is she?" I asked, frowning slightly. Lily looked nervous. "She went to admire the winter bamboo grove with some new acquaintances." I let it go. Martha would have to learn her own lessons about the dangers of noble society. Instead, I turned my attention to Natalie Hayes, who had spotted me across the room and was now eagerly making her way toward us.
