Lily nodded faintly, but she didnt know if she could hold up anymore. Later that afternoon, Lily found herself in the library room tucked away in the corner of it. Bookshelves lined the walls, and a plush armchair sat near the window. She sat with a book in her lap, though she hadn’t turned the page in nearly twenty minutes.

Lily had already completed her house chor so she followed anna, anna started making notes while lily started reading her own course. Daniel and Gabriel arrive villa at 7 pm. At the same time, inside the Cole mansion, Lily walked quietly through the storage room near the west wing. Dust covered most of the old furniture stacked against the walls. Boxes filled with forgotten photographs, decorations, and family items lined the shelves. Lily searched carefully through one particular cabinet until she finally found what she wanted. An old photo album. Her expression relaxed slightly. She flipped through the pages slowly. Childhood photos. Family trips. School events. Then finally— A faded photograph slipped partially loose from one page. Lily froze. The lake. The storm. Two soaked children wrapped in emergency blankets.

I found Lily in the east wing library, seated cross-legged on the rug while Alice colored aggressively on a sheet of paper. Sunlight painted the room gold. It didn’t touch the tension. “You’re back,” Lily said without looking up. “Yes.” Alice held up a scribbled page proudly. “Da!” I crouched beside them. “That’s abstract,” I told her seriously. She beamed. Lily’s lips twitched before she suppressed it. “She’s exploring chaos theory,” I added. That earned me a look. Almost amused. “How bad?” she asked quietly once Alice focused on her crayons again.

“Ah, I understand. Get up then, we will take a shower and then eat out or should I call for it to be brought here?” Lilly thought about it before shaking her head, this is her last day in Chicago, no matter how tired she might be, she would really like to tour around with him a bit before going back to New York. Shelves lined with unread books. Chairs positioned deliberately apart. No witnesses. No audience. Lillian entered first. She stood just inside the doorway, spine straight, hands relaxed at her sides. She had dressed simply again. No symbols. No softness meant to invite pity. What remained of the night’s breaking sat quietly behind her eyes, contained but not erased.
