Linda’s eyes darted through the room as she watched her lovers fight amongst themselves. “She won’t do it!” Linda screamed. “She is joking. Run! The door is right there.” My limbs were slowly coming back to life but I was still strapped down. I tried to move to stop one man who was about to escape from the room but Elara’s fire got there first. Almost like a geyser, it shot out of the ground and burnt him alive. My mood turns three-sixty as I sigh. How did she find us here? This has to be the wrong time for a concert. As always, dressed to kill in dark shades and a beach hat to hide her face and beauty from her fans and predators, Linda walks towards our table waving repeatedly even when Dexter averts his gaze. Although he looks away, I can't help but stare at just how stunning she is. But why is she in a beach outfit? "Tch!" I hear a small click of the tongue.

Linda was in the middle of the room, directing two interns with a clipboard in one hand and her phone tucked between her cheek and shoulder. She spotted me immediately. “Bella!” she beamed. “Thank God you’re here.” “Morning,” I said, forcing a small smile. “Looks like you’ve handled most of it.” “Yeah, I just got off the phone with the caterers. The artist’s rep dropped off the catalog prints about thirty minutes ago. The lighting is 90% done. Oh…and something came for you not long before you arrived.” I stiffened. “Is it a gift box?”

But Linda caught the faintest twitch at the corner of his mouth when their gazes locked again. Alessandro cleared his throat, pulling the group back to order. “Linda, you’ll be Ricardo’s date at the gala. Keep the Dobres distracted and make it believable.” Linda smirked. “Believable? I’m an actress.” “You also have to act like a trust fund baby,” Darren teased. “Got it. No jokes. No sarcasm. Just me being the perfect picture of grace and sophistication, and signing some autographs.” Ricardo’s lips twitched, the barest hint of a smile threatening to break through. He quickly schooled his expression, but Linda caught it, and her grin widened.

Leila said, but she couldn’t help but smirk. Linda glanced at the card, her eyes narrowing as she read the fine print. “You know, I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” “Join the club,” Leila muttered. “But we’re in now, and we’ve got no choice but to play the hand we’ve been dealt.” Linda pocketed the card, her grin fading into something more serious. “Alright, let’s see how it goes.”
