Luna Liliths pov I was walking on the pack borders by the gate. I knew that it was a bad idea, but I did it anyway. I don't like to listen to my mate or my son. But as the Luna of this pack I can do whatever I want when I want, but as I was just walking I heard a little girl on the other side of the border. As a Luna I am supposed to take care of my pack members no matter what it takes. I heard a little girl but when i was outside the gates nobody was there.

The silence that followed was heavy, pregnant, and expectant. Thorne looked directly at Aria. "The song is a bridge, Luna," the old wolf whispered across the firelight. "The children lay the stones. The elders offer the mortar. But the bridge cannot carry weight until the mother of the pack seals it. The final verse belongs to you." Aria froze. Her heart stumbled into a frantic, terrified rhythm.

Aolis steps up behind her, putting his hands on her hips to steady her. Levi wraps his arms around me, holding me as I fight my own tears. When we arrive at the gorge, I know that she is calling on all of her troops. “The giants of old, I call on you to fulfill your role, to protect our land and to defend the One True Queen. Rise and join me.” Lily’s powerful voice echoes through the gorge. Within moments, the ground is rumbling and shaking and the trolls begin standing. “We here, Queen.” A troll says. “Thank you, Shengis.” Lily says to him as they begin to climb out of the gorge. Lucero moves to the large tree, still being used as a bridge and gracefully leaps onto it. Lily turns, addressing our warriors.

The people circled her, singing the ancient song — one sung only in times of divine favor: “O Moon, our mother, our guide in the night, Your light we bear, your peace we fight. From shadow’s grasp we now are free, Your chosen lives — so let it be.” Tears welled in Liora’s eyes as the voices rose around her. Christen joined her in the center, his hand finding hers. Together, they danced — slow and reverent at first, then faster as laughter took over. The others followed, spinning, clapping, theclapping, their joy unrestrained.

But their eyes—when the lantern light caught them—were black, bottomless. Sirens. One of them smiled and raised her hand in greeting, lips parting in a song. The melody unfurled like perfume, thick and sweet. Ligon’s hand went rigid on his weapon. His eyes glazed slightly, as though the sound had found a soft place in his mind. “Ligon!” Valia hissed, stepping between him and the song. “Focus!” He blinked, shook his head hard. “I’m fine.” But his voice was hoarse, uncertain.
