A guy’s gotta ask.” “I will literally strangle you in your sleep,” I muttered. For a moment, Blaze didn’t react. He just stared into the fire. The ruined gates of the Southern bastion smoked with the toxic, violet static of the Eclipse. The three thousand Lycan warriors did not wait for the dust to clear or the rubble to settle. They poured through the shattered stone archway like an unleashed plague of fangs, muscle, and starlight, their bloodthirsty battle cries tearing through the pristine white-stone courtyard. Armored dire-wolves leaped over the smoking debris, their massive jaws snapping shut on the polished silver armor of the retreating Peacekeepers. The proud, pristine bastion that had stood for centuries as a symbol of Southern dominance was transformed into a slaughterhouse in a matter of heartbeats.
