Je suis revenue à la vie. Cette fois, je n'ai plus empêché mon compagnon de ramener son amie d'enfance enceinte à la maison pour s'occuper d'elle. J'ai même proposé de rompre notre lien d'union, afin de lui laisser librement choisir Élise Richard, celle qu'il a toujours préférée. Je créais volontairement chaque occasion pour qu'ils soient seuls ensemble, tandis que je me retirais en silence. Tout cela parce que, dans ma vie précédente, au moment de mourir, Marc Sien m'en voulait encore d'avoir refusé que son amie d'enfance vienne habiter chez nous pour sa grossesse. Une semaine avant la cérémonie d'union avec l'Alpha, il a soudainement changé le lieu pour la forêt des lucioles. Un ami a plaisanté : « C'est juste parce que Lily Moreau voulait voir des lucioles que tu as modifié l'endroit de la cérémonie sans prévenir Alice Durand ? Et si elle se présentait à l'ancien lieu ? » « En plus, Alice a choisi les rives du lac de Lune. Elle va accepter ? » Julien Richard a répondu avec désinvolture : « Elle a bien accepté de subir de graves brûlures pour me sauver, alors changer le lieu de la cérémonie, elle ne va pas me désobéir pour ça. » « D'ailleurs, elle s'est occupée de toute l'organisation de la cérémonie elle-même, elle va certainement remarquer que j'ai modifié l'endroit. » Derrière la porte, j'ai écouté leur conversation en silence, puis je suis partie sans rien dire. Le jour de la cérémonie d'union, Julien m'a appelée d'urgence depuis la forêt des lucioles. « La cérémonie va bientôt commencer, où es-tu ? » Calme, j'ai regardé les reflets scintillants à la surface du lac et ai répondu : « Je suis déjà arrivée, et ma cérémonie va aussi bientôt commencer. »

Dans notre meute, chaque loup avait une seule chance dans sa vie d'utiliser un élixir d'amélioration pour renforcer ses capacités, mais cet élixir ne fonctionnait que s'il était préparé par soi-même. Dans ma vie précédente, même si j'étais une simple Oméga, j'avais passé mes journées et mes nuits à préparer mon propre élixir pour devenir la Gamma de la meute. Mais, le jour de la sélection, dès que je me suis transformée, j'ai totalement perdu le contrôle. Ma louve s'est aussitôt prosternée aux pieds de Victoria, la petite-fille du Bêta actuel. Sous les acclamations de toute la meute, Victoria est devenue la nouvelle Gamma. Moi, on m'a battue et humiliée. Tout le monde disait que j'avais volé l'élixir de Victoria, et c'est pour ça que je ne contrôlais plus ma louve. Ils m'ont coupé les deux mains et m'ont jetée dans une mine d'argent. J'ai souffert d'une douleur insupportable dans cette fosse, mes os rongés par l'argent. Jusqu'à mon dernier souffle, je n'ai pas compris… Comment mon propre élixir avait-il pu faire plier ma louve devant Victoria ? Quand j'ai rouvert les yeux, j'étais revenue une semaine avant la sélection du Gamma. Cette fois, j'ai renoncé à participer et je suis partie seule dans la forêt pour m'entraîner au combat. Le Bêta Richard est resté planté dans l'embrasure de ma maison, me demandant par notre lien mental pourquoi je partais à un moment si important. Pendant ce temps, j'ai retiré mon amulette protectrice, puis je me suis transformée seule en louve pour aller affronter les loups errants sur leur territoire.
